What Would You Build?

I want this so much!

It's a 3d printer that can produce just about any object you are able to model in a CAD program. It builds them out of the same sort of plastic from which Lego is made. And this one, which comes as a kit you assemble, costs only $750US. Considering that the cheapest one I've heard of before this cost more than $10,000US, that's amazing.

That said... I don't actually know what I'd make with it. Probably just little toys and knicknacks. I'd probably also start working on more robotty projects when I knew I could make any gear or unique part I liked.

So, my question is, what would you build with your own 3d printer?

EDIT: the same company is building a 3d scanner kit, so you could scan any object and reproduce it. Starting with my wang.

All of the above are things you could purchase for very little cash on ebay. Try thinking a bit more imaginatively.

Although buying a dildo on ebay would probably not be all that good an idea

Even then, I doubt most Australians outside of Queensland know what Q1 refers to other than 'that tall building at Surfers'.

Yes. I didn't even know it could refer to 'that tall building at Surfers'.

But what else does it refer to?

Or am I getting caught out by grammatical vagueness?

I only meant by the building, I thought other people outside of Queensland knew about, Or at least remember it... Eh, It still would be sweet having a realistically detailed model of the whole building.

I've been to Queensland once in the last decade and that was before the Q1 building was finished.

Would you recognise the Eureka Tower if it fell on you?

I would build my own minature Dalek. I would look at it, point and say "I made that!".

It's unbelievable how well technology's coming on. It's really excellent what they can do now.

I think I'd make a miniature city. Then I could make little guys and street lamps to go with it. I'll never get this though, because I know I'll just screw it up and only use it so much.

And then since It's made out of the same plastic that Lego is built out of, I might make my own little bits and bobs for it.

I'd do this across my entire house/room. Build little pipes into the ridges along the walls, piece together a small inclinator for stairs, use a system of motors and tracks to create the illusion of people walking around, and see if adding a flammable liquid into the lego-plastic mix is possible.
After igniting a portion of the 'city' a jury-rigged fire-alarm system will speed up all of the motors and small poles will raise the small people's hands as they go by, making them appear to be panicking. The fire will be controlled, but 'guided' to the inclinator, where all of the people will have grouped to escape. The fire will burn through the inclinator's support wires and drive belt and it will crash, trapping all of the people inside and incinerating them.

Also, if you're into DnD or Warhammer or anything else like that, you could make some inexpensive minis. Saves you a ridiculous amount. Of course, I doubt any official Games Workshop store will allow that nonsense in their tourneys.

Depending on colour, between $30 and $60US for five pounds, though at this time the colour options are black, white and translucent white.

The link in my first post goes to the company's website and their store.

You're going to have to make an AC plug and Video cables, too, as well as put in something to weigh it down.

Unless you're selling it on the internet.
