. Unfortunatly I didn't record all the steps I made to create this picture, but I can show two of the early iterations:

I use a program called THE GIMP, its a free software, in case anyone is interested, you an download it from this site:
www.gimp.org. But I recomend Photoshop, if you are able to get one copy.
In the first picture you can see the lines I draw to work as a "wireframe", a guideline so that I can paint the picture in the right areas. The second picture shows one of the first and painful "smudge" stages. I couldn't achieve that smooth look without the smudge tool. The little dots are color samples. After that it's only a a work of patience, using the brush here, erasing there, smudging yet over there, until I consider that the picture is good.
I'll try to make another picture, and this time I'll record all the steps, so that I can show how I did it.
