Lampion, The Mudokon (picture)

Early in this week, I decided to make a picture of Lampion, the Mudokon, mostly to know how my "alter ego" looks like. After two days working only with a mouse, I came up with this:

He doesn't "glow" actually, that was only a cool effect :). I also imagined his skin almost completely covered by tatoos and scars, but I'll think about adding that to the picture later. I must confess that I used pictures of Abe as a reference to make his feet and part of his left hand. The top of the stick was inspired by an structure found in Paramonia, something like a big gate near the Paramonian Temple. The original concept doesn't have that blue cristal, but I thought It was a god touch, since mudokons use cristals a lot, to concentrate and canalize spooce-based energy streams.

So, what do you all think?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspLampion, I think it's excellent work. I like your purple skin, and the black background really makes you stand out.

Wow Lampion, that is brilliant! I say with confidence that this is your best work to date. I just love the pose he's in, the way his emtpy hand is poised is superb. I also love the staff he's holding, it's all done just so well.

Congratulations on another fine artwork. :D

 That's awesome! I really like the hair. It looks so dynamic and action-packed. I also really like how the muscles work out. They look really realistic for an Odd creature.

Wow, this is fantastic! I love the colours, they really set him off well... The expression on his face is spot on, as well. Well Done!

Lampion, this picture is simply excellent! You are such a skilled artist! This time i couldn't stop looking at the picture, moreover you've drawn him by the mouse! Only with the mouse! That's unbelievable!

But you gave your best effort to convert this idea into a picture!
That's really fabulous, i'm impressed.

Thanks for the positive words, folks, I'm really glad everyone liked it. I liked it a lot, too :). Unfortunatly I didn't record all the steps I made to create this picture, but I can show two of the early iterations:
http://communities.msn.com/_Secure/0...dg/lampion.jpg

I use a program called THE GIMP, its a free software, in case anyone is interested, you an download it from this site: www.gimp.org. But I recomend Photoshop, if you are able to get one copy.

In the first picture you can see the lines I draw to work as a "wireframe", a guideline so that I can paint the picture in the right areas. The second picture shows one of the first and painful "smudge" stages. I couldn't achieve that smooth look without the smudge tool. The little dots are color samples. After that it's only a a work of patience, using the brush here, erasing there, smudging yet over there, until I consider that the picture is good.

I'll try to make another picture, and this time I'll record all the steps, so that I can show how I did it.

Seeya soon
