If you get on with this person well enough, there's nothing to stop you from continuing your friendship with her regardless. Sometimes friends can be more important than lovers - And as friends, you two won't have the emotional baggage that comes with love to tie you down.

Also when I said mum gets angry if I make rape jokes: I've no idea why, but I was just setting it up for someone to make a rape joke. I've never made a rape joke in front of her so I don't know how she would react. And no, she's never been raped.
