The blank theme's good anyway, it's more customisable (from a browser plugin perspective) than the other themes as well.

The blog thing isn't really an issue anyway, you can still get to view blogs and stuff just fine without the bottom bit.

Yes, but replacing them with html tags would just be confusing to anyone who doesn't know how to do it manually. So if you can do it manually, just do it. That's what I do. Don't you want to be like me?
