I'm very happy with price. New 'N' Tasty looks outstanding in quality and could easily be a £40 game.

It's too bad that the term 'indie' has become synonymous for "simple game", "crappy game", "cheap game", "short game" or "can't possibly be very good". While all indie really means (or should mean) is that a developer is self publishing. I like how Lorne pointed this out in the interview. N'n'T has over 5 million dollar in assets backing it (aside from the former reputation) which is vastly different from other games that fall in the 'indie' genre. A quick search around Google learns that most of those games have a budget ranging anywhere from $25.000 to $250.000 but never in the millions. For that reason this game shouldn't really be marketed as an indie title in the first place. As a studio you should be treating it like a AAA project. The audience certainly won't know the difference unless you tell them.

Also is there a live stream or something about the big reveal?

It's a date!

Seriously though, I agree with Havoc here, everybody is going to assume this is a small Indie game (especially with you guys up on stage at the E3-PS4-indie thing). It's good to see you are starting to communicating the fact it's "more" than that.

Can't wait for 16h GMT

The price seems reasonable enough to me; I don't see how being an indie game is entirely relevant to it. Just because it's independently published doesn't mean it can't be developed by a studio with a dozen or so employees, which in this case it is.

Torrenting Indie games...Fucking disgusting.
I really hate this attitude.

It was enough for them to sell 600k copies of Stranger HD

The sauce is the man himself, Lorne Lanning, in the article we are discussing in this very thread.

But surely that's the right attitude to have? Torrenting is awful, Especially if it's a small indie studio that rely on sales. Anyway I'm not getting into it. We've had plenty of threads about it.

They should have their own unique title.

I know what you mean though. OI and JAW never seemed indie to me. Yeah sure they are independent and pay for all their own things much like any other indie developer. But when I see Oddworld Inhabitants or JAW I see them as their own companies with their own level of professionalism and it makes them stand out from lets say, Ed Mcmillan, Phil Fish, etc.

But i've got 100% faith in the game. All the best to them I say!

EDIT:
We should all make ridiculous calls as to what the reveal is and see who gets the closest lol.

SLIG STORM EXPANSION WILL BE IN GAME UPON COMPLETION.

Can I ask what assets were taken from the original, then? Lorne said it was effectively half the budget of the game, which seems like a lot for just CG models.

I vote that you create a new mode that replaces all character models with the original sprites just because.

In the the SixthAxis podcast interview a couple of weeks back, Lorne said something along the lines of:

:
  • AO had 3 million dollar's worth of 3D assets. While dated now, they were high quality back in the day, and OWI were saving a library of them for later use when user-end technology could render them in higher resolutions.
  • Said assets are not compatible with today's tech, but have been used as templates/references for new assets
Still, looking forward to what'll be shown this afternoon. It's nice to see some hype here and for Stewart to drop by on us.

Yeah, its wicked to see you here Stewart. Its a great quality that a some devs in AAA game companies tend to lack. Communication with the fans directly

Also, Im sure its been asked before, but what game do you like more, Abes Oddysee? or Abes Exoddus? we had a thread about it before, just curious.

Since you're here Gilrod, in the podcast on your site you mentioned a staggered PC release for N'n'T, any chance you could give a hint as to how long we'll have to wait to see it available for the PC (for those of us who don't have up to date consoles), so I know how long to vanish off the internet for?

With NnT, there is 2 textures in the entire game that were in the original, EVERYTHING else has been rebuilt and then some.
Could you give us a little trivia by saying which two?

EDIT:
Oh, there was another page. Cool. Nevermind then.

I can imagine the 'coming soon, something new n tasty!' And the 'Wanted' posters would have been the ones they originally used. You can easily see how similar the wanted posters are in the remake and the original, kudos I that it's fully remade too!!

Oooh, Fangus! I've been interested in that one since I first heard about it. I'm glad it may see the light of day after all. A whole new Oddworld game...*sigh* Can't wait to hear more about it in the future.

I hope this doesn't mean they won't remake Munch at some point though. It was the only game of the series that really, really needed it, and of course we all know about the problems OWI had making it and all the things they had to cut by the time that project was done. *shrug* But whatever happens happens.

£18.....for this....are you kidding me! Thats amazing for a release price definitely buying day one for PC!
I've seen indie games advertised on steam and lets be fair the quality on graphics is terrible (personal experience) Don't get me wrong I've brought a few and they have all been good buys but when people see this game and the fact that it isn't £30 new is just ridiculous and I can see it being a major success!

EDIT: Didn't mean necessarily graphics but performance, bugs ect.

If it was just straight-up bad then we could forget about it. It’s because it had good ideas behind it and just turned out so mediocre that we can’t.

Remaking Munch is not like remaking Abe or doing Stranger and Fangus. It required developing a whole new genre or subgenre. A lot of work needs to go into simply making the game types work as desired before you even start designing levels and assets. the practicality of doing Munch may well depend on how much of that was already done and then cut way back at the turn of the century, and how much is still applicable today.

Well if they could do Munch as they did NnT, namely building the game with today's methods and techniques but based on the original concept art and documents, that could give an awesome game.

No, I have not lost faith in Munch.

I still think that there would be a lot more work involved for remaking Munch than Abe. How many levels from Munch can they use? I think none. I understood that Munch would be open world with a chunk of Mudos represented, the whole landscape of which is organically morphable.

As much as I would love for the story of Munch to be re-told 100x better with modern day technology... I want there to be a cut off point when it comes to doing remakes. After NnT and possibly a remake of AE (which should take less time if assets are re-used), I'd like to see some Oddworld stuff we've never seen before.
