It’s not a style or a genre. Anime is just a term for animation made in Japan; there are different styles of animation that fit within that and are commonly used, and there are genres that are as well.
I wouldn’t call western animation a genre or a style because it’s too nonspecific and doesn’t fit into either definition, even if there are genres and styles that are commonly used in western animation. The same goes for anime.

It depends on your definition of anime. Seriously.
Nobody can agree on it and nobody ever will. There is a specific style of animation that most people would point to and say “that’s anime”, but then other people will say that any animation made in Japan is anime regardless of its style.

Speaking of anime, I finished the first volume of Persona 4.
It definitely evens out in pacing after the first few episodes which is nice. So far it’s managed to keep the really great characterizations that made the game so good, and they’ve managed to come up with some pretty decent alternatives to the gamey shit that wouldn’t work in a non-game (boss fights etc).

I just finished Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, which was better than the original novel and the three film adaptations I've seen in just about every way, apart from Eugenie not running away in a scandalous lesbian affair.
Amazing series, so much style. Vaulted its way into my top ten.

Ah, we are high school boys,
the miserable high school boys.
If we were girls, we could get popular by doing anything:
rock band, jazz band,
karate, kendo, mahjong, cyborg, synchronized swimming...
On the other hand, high school boys are
useless outside battle and sports anime.
But they're recklessly trying to make a slice-of-life anime about us.

I'd post a picture of Ahiru, and absolutely nobody would get the joke, but I'm not nearly as obnoxious as Strike Witch.

Haha, you were when you were raving about that Princess Tutu show!

Swan Lake meets dancing ninjas with electric guitars.
AKA The best fucking thing ever.
Award winning and shockingly good fan-made AMV.

Best AMV at the Boston Anime Festival for 2006 I believe. It's a little like winning the award for nuttiest tasting shit of the year.
Even so, I do like it.

Hay, everyone! This is an 'I Have Just Seen...' thread, not a 'Let's discuss Anime' thread. Remember how I've only had to say that about fifty hundred thousand times over the last few years?!

Spending as long as I do here, it's easy to forget that Oddworld has actual fans.
But I've just seen a lot of anime. Manco has also just seen some anime. I don't see the issue here.
Well no, I see the issue here but anime is just what it's wearing for the day.

Watched Les Miserables. Wow, who knew Wolverine could sing! Awesome movie, amazing action. Definitely one of my favourite films so far, especially in the musicals category.
watched Ink. fucking strange film, but i find the concept intriguing. love the Incubi. dodgy acting with some painful moments, but i'm actually glad i watched it.
