I saw Real Steel last night.
I actually really enjoyed it. The concept of fighting robots in the near future isn't too far-fetched what with technology advancing so rapidly. The storyline was rich and had some great plot twists though the ending was really predictable, The actors interaction with the robots and with each other felt real and Dakota Goyo, the 11 year old who played Max was a great actor for his age. The robots themselves were unique and brilliantly made. Atom, The robot that the main characters were using to fight with was really loveable and the bond between it and Max was very realistic, I actually wanted Atom to win in the fights So yeah, Great film. go watch it sometime :) |
I fucking hate Bronies
|
So, how about them there Bronies?
EDIT: Fuck. |
I have just seen The Cabin in the Woods. It was amazing. This was the first time I have ever watched it but it now has to be one of my top 10 favourite movies ever! :D
It is a cabin in the woods story (obviously) but with the twist of a team of people setting up what is to happen to the teenagers who go there. It does an awesome job of jumping between what is happening at the HQ and what is happening in the Cabin, which at times can be comical. I don't want to spoil anything because that takes away a lot of the fun in this movie but trust me when I say you get to see more and more instead of most movies where they just end on a cliff hanger and you are left wondering, left to your own imagination. You don't need imagination in this film. It seems to be a love it or hate it movie but I would have to give it 8/11 Sunflower Seeds. I highly recommend you see it, and try not to read too much into the plot before watching it. |

Guess what I just watched? Hell yeah. |
I’ve been blessed in that I have never encountered a brony outside of the internet. Something tells me I don’t want to, even though I’ve never really seen the “internet people are sweaty neckbeards” stereotype validated.
|
I'm an internet person, and I sure as hell don't have a sweaty neckbeard.
We'd better start talking about what we've just seen before Nate opens another IHJS thread and closes this one. |
I saw Burton's animated Frankenweenie remake over the weekend.
I didn't love it, but it was good, and it certainly had more heart than any of Burton's recent fare. It definitely felt more like an 80's/90's Burton film, which is when he made all of his best stuff. Even his casting was 90's (Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara, Winona Ryder), and not a Depp or Carter in sight. That was exceptionally refreshing. They added several characters and subplots not present in the original short film, but it doesn't detract from the central story or feel haphazardly padded like some short film -> full length affairs do. I would recommend watching it alone when it comes out. Since it's technically a "kids movie", I had to deal with a theater full of human larvae cackling, talking, and boo-hooing throughout the whole goddamned film. Not to mention, the trailers that came before it advertising Despicable Me 2, The Smurfs 2, and some other terrible CG garbage made me almost as nauseous as the many utterances of "that looks good" I heard around me. Man, I'm only in my 20's and I already hate young people. I look forward to the next 50+ years. |

Dragged along to watch Paranormal Activity 4.
By fuck, that was terrible. I don't like any of them, but number 3 was the least shit one so I went into this believing it might actually be good. Turned out to be the worst one yet. |
I've managed to watch whole three episodes of the eleventh Doctor Who and live to tell the tale...
They sucked really really much. They were boring, uncreative, the dialogues were written by a 3-year-old kid... everything was wrong, I can't think of any good things about them. PS: Was W.Churchill really that stupid and blinded? |

No, that trailer is actually quite nice compared to the garbage they were advertising. Off the top of my head, I can only remember these two;
Strangely enough, they're both prehistoric-themed movies. I guess Dinosaurs are going to be next year's hot topic. These were in addition to the two sequel teasers (Despicable Me 2, Smurfs 2). I can't even begin to tell you how miserable these trailers make me. |
They both look horrible.
|
Dinotime has some pretty fucking terrible CG, reminds me of this.
|
I fucking love Video Brinquedo.
|
Video Brinquedo is so 2009. Get with the CG shitshow times:
|
That looks like Video Brinquedo to me, or a company that's exactly as bad.
|
For some reason I have a really bad feeling about this...
|
Oh no... Please don't ruin one of my favourite films of all time!
|
Yo Dynamithix, where is your avatar from? It's pretty wicked.
|
Check the art thread.

ermagerd looks awesome |
Superhero movies have never appealed to me. I will never know what you are feeling, Bungle. I will die not knowing what it's like to love superhero movies. How should I feel about this?
|
Indifferent, I guess. I'm pretty much just a Marvel fanboy, so there's my reasoning. Even if it ends up being shit I know I'll be there, day one, front row and center, chills down my spine at the sight of the glorious crimson Marvel logo. Also, I loved the fuck out of Avengers, so that got me all kinds of excited for this.
That said I found Hulk to be boring as hell, so things could end up going in that direction. From this trailer, though, I can't see that happening. |

Pretty much that. Don't like the music choice for the trailer either...
|
Actually, some of the music from that trailer was from the original.

Can anyone else say "Work shed" without moving their lips? :
