I've heard The Amazing Spiderman was painfully average.

I thought that they made Parker a much more likeable character than Tobey Maguire’s version, it followed some comic-stuff closer than the previous movies (Spidey has his signature sense of humor and his web is synthetic), the action scenes were well done but the plot is kinda ehh. Didn’t help that they were trying to build up a mysterious plot around his missing parents for an obvious sequel.

I didn't see the movie, but from what I did see I thought The Lizard looked completely stupid. Small gripe, I guess, but damn. I love him in the comics/cartoon, where he acutally looked like an overgrown lizard with humanoid features. Not a big green orc looking dude.

I had the same thought before I saw the film, I thought it looked fine after seeing it. TAS is better than the drivel of the Avengers, which I retroactively hate more and more everyday.

I loved The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. For one thing, it takes the original story to heart, but as the original book was aimed at a younger audience, this film 'ages up' the contest so that it fits in well with Fellowship. It still has songs here and there, but they're often short and work well to tie in the mood.

It begins with tales about the dwarves of old and what they awoke in the darkness. You see some familiar faces, Gandalf, Elrond and a few other friendly faces from previous films. There's a good deal of action and drama. Do stick with the film, I know the first 45 minutes isn't action-packed, but they're trying to set the mood for the rest of the tale. Trust me, it's worth the payoff. You get little glimpses of the dragon's shadow, a large amount of orcs, along with some of the other LOTR hallmarks. Overall, fantastic film and great setup for the new trilogy. Any fan would dig it!

I thought Amazing Spiderman was good. The origin story is a bit different than the original films and The Lizard makes a great antagonist here, he was always my favourite one.

I'm watching season 2 of The Simpsons. I love the old Klasky-Csupo animation look. The shadowing and colour so much more interesting and pleasing to the eye.

The writing was fantastic throughout the first eight seasons, though.

Agreed. I loved the animation in classic Simpsons. American animators aren't afraid to have fun. They made great use of the squash-and-stretch and motion blur fundamentals of cartooning. None of that boring, drawn-from-a-template by Koreans bullshit.

I thought/assumed that the keyframes were still done in America and the Koreans only did the inbetweens?

That doesn't really change the fact that the animation in the last 8 seasons has been dismal and lifeless. I'm shocked they haven't just given up and moved to Flash already.

I saw Django Unchained yesterday. Looooooooved it. Holy fuck, loved it. Best movie Tarantino has made in quite a while. Fucking amazing.

I give really bad reviews. I have reasons for why I like or dislike things. I just don't like typing them out. I'll say this, though. "Put your hands on the turtle wood table" is one of the funniest goddamn things I've ever heard in my life.

Glad to hear that, my dad's a big Tarantino fan and we'll probably go see it when it premieres here. How big of a role does Christoph Waltz have? Loved him in Inglorious Basterds even though I didn't really like that movie itself.

I watched Lady and the Tramp for the first time with my cousin, who I haven't seen for a long time and who says she really likes the film. I found it fairly boring, because I don't like those sorts of films if I don't personally remember them from being a small child, but I spent a long time thinking that the leading male character kept addressing the cocker spaniel as "bitch" as a pun. I also wasn't surprised to hear the supposed villains of the film addressed as "cossacks".

The Royle Family last night was very funny, though. I thought I was losing my marbles.

I hate that the bloodhound doesn't die at the end.

Apparently Disney initially wanted him to, but the reaction when Bambi's mother died was so severe, he had to concede.
