I've considered it, but it doesn't seem compatible with the sound mod pack, and I'd rather keep it so that the map will work with ordinary, unmodded minecraft - There's less to rely on that way. Any mods I'll be using to enhance atmosphere are purely cosmetic so that the map can function without them if they never get updated while Minecraft does.

I think I can make enough variety in the puzzles with ordinary Minecraft redstone, pistons, mob spawning, TNT, and traps. There are a few ideas I've had which I'm developing, and a few ways to make Minecraft behave in ways other than it should without modding it.

So with 1.3.1 out on Minecraft I tried to update my copy and play. Unfortunately it pauses while installing and eventually comes up with an error message: fatal error (4): Connection Reset. I've never had this problem before and as per, the internet which is supposed to be a fountain of knowledge doesn't help. Has anyone had this problem an managed to fix it?

I had no problems with updating and playing. Started a new world with the Large Biomes option, with "ineveraskedforthis" as the seed, which results you spawning in a huge jungle, with cocoa seed all over the trees. No problems so far.

Have you seen this thread? It might help - apparently, it's not a unique problem.

I had one problem with 1.3.1 which a lot of people have had which was that my skin turned back into the regular one instead of my black-armoured doomguy. Although all I had to do was reset it on their website.

Minecon 2012 is in Disney Land Paris! The only reason I can think of for a 18 year old male like myself to go to Disney Land! And since Paris isn't too far from the UK, I might actually go!

Bwahahahah. I used to be like you, boy. Back then, I thought I would find Disneyland cheesy, or that I would find some way to enjoy it ironically. How silly I was.

I was pleasantly surprised at how unironically enjoyable, uncheesy and high-quality fun it was.

I'm speaking about Disneyland Anaheim, mind you. I can't give any guarantees as to what the French might have done to the formula.

Well come on now. Disney Land really does give off a cheesy and kiddy feel doesn't it? And how I'm I suppose to know it's actually enjoyable? I have no personal experience because I haven't been before!

EDIT: On an un-related note, is it just me or do chunks in 1.3 load a lot slower than they used to?

SP worlds are now run on a local MP server, so in spite of the optimisation they've done world loading will still be slower on lots of machines. Jeb has said there will be even more major performance enhancements in 1.4, but it's still expected to be more taxing than 1.2.

I wasn't criticising Disney Land. I was just saying that an 18 year old male like me wouldn't be considered the Target Audience of Disney Land. and obviously Nate thinks that's just a common belief which is wrong.

Anyway.

This is fun Gamemode Sjin from the Yogscast invented, an TheVoxelBox help make. it's PVP with elements from Capture the Flag and King of the Hill.

seeing Haat Films, Yogscast, CaptainSparklez and Inthelittlewood all on one server again is awesome. The only guy who's missing is Seananners.

When I load large biomes on CSP, sometimes it'll only load one chunk, if I want more chunks to load I have to quit and re-enter the map a few times. Kinda weird.

Can anyone point in the right direction for getting mods for Minecraft? I've never modded this game before, and have no idea how to. Some advice would be nice.

Goto your %appdata% folder and open the .minecraft folder. Navigate to the bin folder and open minecraft.jar with you favourite archiving utility. This may involve renaming it minecraft.zip. Now all you need to do is drag the class files from the mod in there. There are hundreds of tutorials that explain this better, including lots of poorly made, needlessly long videos.

It's also worth looking into Magic Launcher. Technic Launcher if you're interested in the mods it supports.

For those who pay attention to the Snapshots, In the latest one they added something called a Beacon Block I seriously cannot think of use for them apart from in adventure maps. :/

Also they are apparently adding the ability to dye amour and put any item into frames.

What do you mean only in adventure maps? They're designed to be a way to show off all of the iron/gold/emerald/diamond you have and get buffs from it. Some of the abilities are fairly useful, although you can only keep them in a certain radius.

It's a pity it doesn't look like the range is big enough to be very useful.

Dear Mr enchilado/insider/enchider,

Am I right in thinking you can mix combinations of dyes to makes effectively millions of different colours? If so, can we expect this feature to spill over to wool?

Yes, no.

There are 0xFFFFFF different armour colours. Mixing most of them will be painfully tedious and demand high quantities of dye.

Wool blocks won't have this feature because blocks need to store light data.

e: Dinnerbone mentioned somewhere that the lighting engine is being reworked. Because he's so awesome he may consider coloured blocks in that process. I'd personally be more interested in the possibility of coloured lights.

Also, he said that framed armour will retain its colour.

The more I think about it the more ridiculous it seems for each block to remember how bright it is. It's the reason for the strange lighting bugs that are fixed by block updates.

The mob spawning is reliant on reading the light level of blocks, so I don't really know how viable it is to remove it.
