I never got round to adding lime to my snowballs, I'm unfortunately fresh out of advocaat now so I won't be able to try it until another time. I usually add lime to my spiced rums though; SO GOOD.

I've now resorted to adding amaretto to tea. Surprisingly great, better than whisky, NEVER add whisky to tea, coffee's fine, but not tea, for the love of alcohol don't try it. Unless of course you have.. and you liked it, in which case I'm a bullshitter.

ANYWAY: Sometimes I do exercise, sometimes I do not do exercise.. for weeks at a time. Back on topic, yeaaah.

I need a notion to exercise. Unfortunately, I don't consider walking the dog as rigorous as exercise as I would like and I could not be holed to go out and run in that shitty cold weather. Maybe if someone tied a mars bar to a stick and dangled it over my head I'd have a better time of it but until someone does that I'll keep exercising my hand grip.

Heads out of the gutter people, I use the hand and finger strengthener. Improves hand strength, dexterity and finger speed.

I've tried getting the muscles in gear but I couldn't never bulk out more than 10.5 stone so I was never really in the position of having gloriously big and defined muscle. That's the question I need an answer for.

How can I gain weight?

I said to myself that at the start of this school year I'd begin jogging, but it never really took off. Like dog-walking, I don't really consider my daily walk to uni half a mile and back as exercise.
Occasionally I'll do the odd standard workout of pushups and situps, but it's more to break a sweat than add muscle; I'm not interested in being buff, just that little bit in shape, so I doubt I'll be investing in dumbbells with my Christmas moneys.

Ridg, I'm stuck in the same situation, I lost a lot of weight over the course of this year, and it's hard to put it back on, which is a refreshing parody of the younger years of my life. I imagine, eating high protein foods and foods with a fair amount of un-saturated fat in them can boost your weight, but then you have to do some form of exercise to convert the fats and lipids into muscle material, and it has to be strenuous to a degree I can imagine.

Remember muscle weighs more than fat.

All of last page's 'Snowball' discussion made me giggle. I guess you guys are too young to know what the word means.

As for working out; my shitty uni gym shuts down for four weeks over the Christmas break. And I hadn't been going particularly regularly for the previous month or two either, as I've buggered up my shoulder. And I've been baking a lot, which - given that I live alone - means that I'm eating a lot of sugar just so that it doesn't go to waste. So instead it goes to waist. Which is not good.

I should get out and ride my bike more.

By the hammer of Thor, I have mentioned them a few times. You wouldn't think from my posting behaviour that I actually find the concept a bit stomach-turning.

As well as the traditional push-ups, sit-ups and weight-lifting?

Tip 1: Add bits of iceburg lettuce to whatever food you have. It tastes nice and is a great way of filling your plate without making your plate full of unhealthy food.
Tip 2: Use a smaller fork to eat with.
Tip 3: Use a smaller plate.

This so reminds me of those people who add salad to plates full of fatty chips to make it look like they're eating healthily. I can only eat lettuce when it's bundled with some kind of meat. On its own it just tastes like water.

I seriously need to start eating properly. I also want to join a gym, but I don't have enough money to keep going. Seriously need some more income!

You don't necessarily need a gym, running builds stamina, sit ups work your torso and push ups work your arms and pectoral muscles. You can always compliment the workouts with things like dumbbell weights that you can buy for ยฃ30. I have to order mine today, speaking of.

I'd feel more inclined to exercise if I went to a gym. If I had the equipment at home I'd have things to tempt and distract me.

Iceburg lettuce, while tasty, doesn't go with everything and isn't that nutritious. It certainly won't balance out fatty foods if you have it with them. The idea is to not eat things that are bad for you in the first place.

But I can talk, I still eat lots of crap (quiche, pasties, pasta, lots of bread and fried meals) even though I also eat lots of fruit and veg. I cycle about 20 miles every week (not by choice) and cut firewood each evening, and I'm still about 4 KG overweight. So the fruit and veg I eat definitely doesn't balance out the crap.

I literally cannot eat most Veg. Its something about the taste of them I really don't like. Carrots and Sprouts are the worst.

I make up for this by eating fruit. I love fruit.

My problem is that I'd probably pay for the membership and still not end up going.

I like the immaterial nature of the good ol' push/sit up, a pretty practical, and light weight apparatus to carry around anywhere with you as well

I know but what's the alternative? A plate with 100% chips on it? Or one with 50% chips and 50% lettuce? If that's not enough go down to 25% Chips and 75% lettuce. My other point is that you don't have to completely cut out 'bad' foods from your diet, just alter their quantity.

Pfft, I've never been a fan of regulating what I eat and I don't think I'll ever be a fan of it. At the end of the day, I want to be happy and if fitness gets in the way of my happiness then you can well believe that I'm gonna leave fitness behind in the dirt whilst I drive off with a double bacon cheeseburger in one hand and a Wicked Zinger Burger in the other.

I've been going to the gym every day for between an hour and a half to two hours. The guy that owns the gym has put me on a regimen. This was necessary because I really have no idea what I should be doing. Anyway, I haven't missed a day, and I'm starting to see results.
