The second last paragraph clarifies that all they found was adenine and guanine, two of the building blocks of DNA. I'd say that the person who wrote that article doesn't really understand what DNA is and doesn't know what he's talking about.

I think it's more likely we'll find RNA before we find DNA, and besides, it's very hard to distinguish between whether the life was autochthonic or whether it is Earth life that quickly found it's way onto the meteorite.

Please use the word indigenous in future. I had to look on wikipedia to make sure you weren't talking about trolls, golems or Titans.

I knew what it meant. It means of the earth. A 'Chthonic' being is one who manipulates from beneath the earth, specific to the Titans in Greek mythology. That's where Lovecraft got his idea of the Old Gods and especially Chthulu from.

I did not know that in zoology/astronomy it refered a being originally from a planet.

Remember, the truer mark of intelligence is stating your views and knowledge in an understandable way, rather than using big specialized words.

i read about nikola tesla that he also said that he saw that there are sub atoms faster than light...
also i read that the scientists found some evidence that there are oceans of water underneath plutos crust that appeared probably from charons rotation making some kind of friction in pluto and warming it up.

You're probably thinking about Europa, rather than Pluto.

As for Tesla... he said a lot of crazy shit.

That's undeniably true. But that doesn't mean that everything he said was true. He was an inventor and engineer, not a theoretical physicist.

More like, he didn't know how things worked so he came up with ideas that were utterly impossible.

That's not a good reason not to use big words, especially with an audience this intelligent. You learned something, even if you did the legwork yourself.

I'm interested in seeing what people think about how aliens are represented in fiction. If you could go here and complete a little survey that would be really helpful. I'll relay the answers in this topic. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MDDCTNN

When I wrote the first draft of my paper (now available by a simple Google Scholar search, woot), I read it over and actually thought to myself "This is too understandable. I should include more jargon."

It just makes you think: how did people create the image that we now think of as an alien from outer space? Pale skin, huge foreheads, and big black eyes; did they get it from some type of special monkey or something? I also happen to find it interesting that they will make the aliens have two arms, two legs, stomachs, skin, and other physical features similar to a human's almost 95% of the time. Is there some history lesson that I've missed, or am I giving one of the best guesses that anyone here can think of for the foundation of our vision of aliens?

I don't have any references to quote, but I believe there was one famous case in the '50s in which a self-claimed abductee drew a picture of his tormentors that resembled what we would call a Grey. It got enough attention worldwide that later people drew inspiration (consciously or unsconsciously) from his concept.
