The Spleef Arena is (more or less) finished and open!
Please observe the below.
RULES OF THE EXODDUS ARENA
1. You are requested to donate 1 iron ingot or 1 cow hide (or more than one of these, if you feel generous) to the arena per player per game; this is for maintenance of equipment (note this is a request, but it is a heartfelt one. I won't spend all my iron on this so if stuff runs out don't expect ole' Splatty to rush to replace it).
2. Sometimes mobs spawn in the Arena, so make sure the Arena and Pit are clear before preparing.
3. Please replace the dirt from the pit when you are done. Yes, this takes ages, and Havoc is working on finding a mod that will do it automatically. But in the meantime, two+ players and spectators can get the job done much quicker than I could.
4. Iron shovels are provided in the chest at the front entrance for players to use, as are leather and iron chest plates; the latter are to use in team games, where 1 team wears leather and the other iron. If you need more than is provided, you know where the animal farm is, and doubtless you'll have some iron somewhere; these will be welcome donations to the arena. PLEASE return the equipment when you are done ('I forgot I was wearing it' is an empty excuse when your house is burnt down by irate stock-checkers).
RULES OF SPLEEF
1. The game can be played with two or more players, in teams or solo (a few leather and iron chest-plates are provided in the front chest to allow for teams).
2. Players take an iron shovel from the chest by the main entrance and take their places at opposite ends of the arena, by the coloured wool (there are spaces for 4 players; if you have more than this, argue it out for yourself).
3. Starting together, players may use their shovels to remove dirt blocks from the arena floor. Your aim is to remove the block your opponent is standing on, making him fall into the pit below.
4. Iron (or weaker) shovels are the only tools that can be used in the arena. All other tools are banned, including bows, flint-and-steel, snowballs, eggs and diamond shovels.
5. The winner is the last player/team left in the arena, when all opponents have fallen into the pit.
PLEASE NOTE: Unless you're already at less than half health, the fall into the pit probably won't kill you, but to be on the safe side you may want to empty your inventory before coming.
6.The winner may (carefully) use either of the Winner's Buttons (at the front and back entrances to the arena) to re-enter the stands. The losers must exit by the losers' ladders (or, if they prefer, the Cave of Lose, though going this way they must still return to the arena to return their equipment).
As an alternative, players may arm themselves with weapons and use the arena as a stadium of gladiatorial battle. Please clean up after yourself if you do.
As a note, I don't know how much wear a game will have on an iron shovel, but if they're still at at least half endurance then they can probably be used again. Please return the equipment you use and, as players, provide a few materials to help keep the place running after you. The arena currently provides iron shovels, leather chest armour and iron chest armour; wood is easy enough to come by but the rest is not so easy, and your support is greatly appreciated.
