I was always rather disappointed with the way Abe jumps in MO. Instead of jumping like in Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus (quite realistically), he did crazy Crash Bandicoot flips! Oddworld to me has always has a gritty, semi-realism to it and I never thought the flips fitted in. I always wished that he jumped and grabbed ledges like in the older games. I agree with everyone saying that the boing sounds don't fit in too

In regards to Stranger's Wrath HD, I feel that I kind of agree with Sekto Springs, on all points.

Yeah, just about all sounds in MO irritate me in one way or another. But when I first played it, I never really paid it much mind. But in retrospect I cannot imagine how I did that.

MO basically needs to be re-done, not just a graphics and audio update. The gameplay needs to be more realistic like the older ones, not all that cartoonish crap... The sounds most defiantly need improvement. I also agree with the post about abe's jump. It would be nice to grab ledges again instead of doing front flips "BOING"'n off walls.

They could remake MO. Or preferably, in my opinion, they could spend their time instead making something new and original.

Yeah I think it's a point I made earlier - MO would benefit from a complete remake, sure, since it's the weakest game that OWI ever made and feels more like something a fan would make rather than an official title. (hey, I even had a speculative dream about a remake three years ago that I wrote about :P)

But is it really worth it? I'd rather see time and effort being spent on something more deserving of a remake, such as Abe HD. Or something entirely new altogether.

However maybe people do have a point when they say small tweaks could be made to it to make it better. Changing some sounds for example (why do the paramites sound like pigs? And what's with those annoying footstep and jump noises?). Although it still might not be worth it.

yeah to be honest i dont think werein dsperate need of a Abe remake, they were pretty much perfect as they were. what we do need is something new... Munch's Exoddus or even squeek's Oddysee maybe, please Glitch... can u convince stuart and/or Lorne (not forgetting Sherry) to go with these instead???

I entirely disagree. Abe HD deserves to be made, if done correctly. It should sell well, giving them more resources so that they can later make new things and play around with new ideas.

but arent these remakes taking just as much resources? after all the original abe was created from nothing, an entirly new business and franchise

Yes, but it's worth it considering that Abe is pretty much integral to the planned quintology. Abe Oddysee and Exoddus are such old games and, as fantastically made as they are, they no longer appeal to more mainstream gamers who think that graphics are everything. Much of the modern gaming demographic probably haven't played AO or AE, and neither are they aware of them.

It's been a very long time since OWI made or published any new games. A remake of those first two games would, if successful, raise awareness of and familiarise people with the Oddworld series, and hopefully would mean that any future titles would sell better. It would also mean that there would be less pressure on those new titles to stand and perform alone. People aren't likely to buy a sequel to a game that they haven't even heard of.

I want OWI and JAW to be successful.

You could make the game 500% better just be removing that boing Abe makes when he jumps.
Please please please... If there's just one wish you guys can grant, it is this. From the bottom of my heart I beg you guys to remove the boing sounds :'(

(And the pig noises from paramites).

The annoying-Abe-jumping sound is only heard when Abe jumps; the annoying-Munch-walking sound is heard for the entirety of Munch's incredibly slow walk.

What about the squeaking sound of Munch's Wheelchair?
Or the constant repeated lines that sligs go through?

Those are 100000x worse than Abe's jump sounds >_>

Abe's jump sounds only happened when you bumped into an obstacle of some kind. That's far less annoying than the completely unavoidable boinging sounds Munch made with every hop.

As for the wheelchair, the squeaking didn't seem misplaced. I agree on improved AI/dialogue for the sligs though.

Plus, once Abe hits the ground feet-first, it's the same sound effect regardless of the surface.

Sounds like he's hitting grass. Doesn't go too well when you're indoors...

Really guys, you could list pages and pages and pages of stuff wrong with MO. But as I said earlier - Is it really worth OWI and JAW's time "fixing" it?

Yes... Or would you really rather have the old annoying sound effects that annoyed people in the first place in the HD version when they could easily replace, for example, the jumping sound for both Munch and Abe?

I always loved MO when I got it. However, I wasn't aware of its release until I saw it on the shelves, and so I hadn't waited with high hopes and promises in my mind like a lot of more serious fans had. I think it was the dissapointment of those fans who were promised more that's made it seem so bad. That's not the only reason of course, I agree it could have been so much more, but it is a factor here

No one here will admit that when they first bought and played MO, it was the greatest fucking thing in the world at the time. It wasn't until we grew up a little and got more jaded when we realized it's many faults.

If you played AO and AE first and had any decent taste in games, and been keeping an eye on what OWI were promising, you'd find MO to be a bad game in comparison, even when it was released.

I had played AO and AE and had plenty of taste, thank you. But it was 3D Oddworld!
Granted, I knew exactly what I was getting ahead of time because I was one of those people that followed it's production closely.

My dad had previously owned Abe's Exoddus on the Playstation, and that's how I discovered Abe. Once I was of age and had my first Playstation I instantly fell in love with Abe, however I knew of only one other person who had even heard of our blue friend. And I still remember to this day when I stumbled upon Munch's Oddysee in a games shop whilst I was on holiday. It blew my mind, I had no idea it existed because of my late entry into the Oddworld world, but I still hated it. It was so different from what i'd fallen in love with.

If you took all the Odd out of it, it would just be some horrific game that sat at the back of a shelf. The only reason I bought it was because it had good ol' Abe's face slapped across the front of it. I remember playing it with my sister and her saying 'you only don't like it because it's 3D and the first two were 2D.' and no, it wasn't that at all, it was the fact the graphics, gameplay and controls sucked badly. So to be honest they've got a lot to do for this not to just be another train-wreck of a game.

I was 20 when it came out. I haven't done that much growing up since then.

Also I was like 12 at the time, so this phenomena may be limited to myself and a few others

Also, Nate. You're old. I mean I already knew that but still, when you remind me, it's weird. You're still younger than Cloverfield though, so that's ok.

i liked MO for the first few levels untill i realized that it was practically just a parody of anything odd, and that there wasn't gonna be any variation in level design and such... sigh ._.
