I do believe the most likely result will be precisely the same game except with higher-poly characters. If we're amazingly lucky they'd get rid of/replace some sounds. Anything more than that would represent a stupid effort-to-improvement ratio.

If they're going to bring the original Munch ideas to fruition, it's going to take a lot more than tinkering with the existing game.

Maybe they'll do a one hit kill thing rather than 10 birds circling your godamned head. Oh and maybe they'll at least change the spooceshrub trails, I hated that because why the fuck would that happen?

So that you don't have to exert an unnecessary amount of effort running around like a lunatic to open SpooceLocks.

Find an alternative mechanic or grow them in bundles as would make sense for a fungal organism.

Actually, I think Munch's Oddysee would fit in really well among XBLA's titles. Like a longer The Maw.

I think JAW has elected to remake the classics so that they feel familiar enough with the universe from a developmental standpoint before tackling a new installment. It's a good idea, in my opinion.

Of course it's going to try our patience, but so it goes...

I think another part of it is re-introducing the gaming world to Oddworld - keep in mind that there hasn't been a new Oddworld game since 2005, and until very recently there was almost no news at all coming out of OWI.

I think a lot of people these days will have either forgotten about or never heard of Oddworld, so if they're going to bring back the series they have to get people reacquainted with it; and the easiest (and most cost-effective) way to do that is to re-release and remaster the old titles - it brings back the memories of people who'd forgotten about the series, and also brings people who'd never heard of it up to speed with the backstory and characters.

And of course, re-releasing is an easy way to make money to fund new projects.

I'm not sure how they could announce another remake now... you know, as they basically announced every game they released would be done in hd.

It won't, because of natural selection. The only fans left here are the ones with infinite patience.

Some people been waiting here since before 2001!

Funny, I just watched a nostalgic video from 98/99 I reckon. Lorne was black hair, no moustache and talked about the inevitability of a game market obsessed by 3D and how Oddworld was basically exempt. How things change!

Tell that to my puny mortal life =D

OT= Well would be nice to hear if they maybe thought to add missing/cut stuff from the final game previously.

I can bet 99% that it wont happen, but its still nice to think about it =P
