Munch HD?
 

With both Stranger's wrath and Abe's oddysee being remade in HD it seems possible that in the not to far off future we may see a HD version of Munch's oddysee too. So what kinda things would you like to see in a remake??

For me id like to see...

1) A darker feeling/ mood to the game.
For example a darker colour palett so the sky resembles that of around Rupture farms and Necrum, etc. Maybe even the removal of the "boing" noise when Munch walks. - I know it's something small but I think that a more ambiet, natural sound would help set a darker mood. I know those are only two minor aspects but i think they would help.

2) Better water levels
Maybe a chase of a wild searex? who knows.

3) Instant deaths, or atleast lets hits to be killed.
Remove a few sligs but make thier guns more powerful, I think this would make the game more tactical like the old games as you couldnt be as risky.

4)And ofcourse HD graphics and all the content initially cut from the game.

That seems more like a Director's Cut than an HD version. But I agree with you, I'd like to see those things as well. I'd also like a more fleshed-out storyline, as well as more variety in environments.

If anything is done to MO to begin with, it should be remade from scratch. No amount of touching up will correct the fail that is Munch's Oddysee.

changing the levels of the games would probably cause some problems but i would love to see some of the stuff like a darker atmosphere and more variety in the enviroment would be good as well

I would like to see all the story elements that were cut from the final game like Sam, Mullock's trial and an actual appearance from Lady Margaret. When you think about it, the story of MO wasn't even half of what it was supposed to be. Such a shame.

I agree. Remaking MO wouldn't be worth the time nor the money. When the production for Abe HD is finished, they should concentrate on new projects - and I think that's precisely what they'll do.

I agree. Munch's Oddysee is what it is and shouldn't be tampered with. A new game is a much better idea.

I really like MO when it came out. Mind you, I was, like, 8. I still enjoy playing it, if only from mild nostalgia.

Give me any MO version, HD is a bonus. I really feel left in the dark about the whole quintology when I've never played it due to me being a playstation loyalist and I'm sure I'm not the only one in this position. Can't see it happening though, it gets too much stick from fans for being not good enough. But yes I would 100% like to see a MO remake in HD, as long as its avaliable through Playstation Network :P

Same. I'm also a PlayStation loyalist, hence I never had the opportunity to even play MO. But from hearing what critics and fans had to say about the game, it doesn't seem like much of a loss. Saying that though, I do hope that Abe HD doesn't appear on Xbox LIVE. If it did, It would slightly dampen my anticipation for the title.

Yeah, why? If it's released on many platforms, OWI and JAW most likely get more money than being exclusive to only one platform.

Ummm why? If Abe HD appeared on Xbox Live would it really affect your life in anyway? Your a member of this forum like everybody else for one reason. Your a fan of Oddworld. So your here to discuss and share your interest in Oddworld so why would you want to take away the ability for people to enjoy the same interest as you? Quite mean isn't it? I really do not care what console a game comes out for. I own an Xbox 360 so as long as the game I want comes out for that system I really do not care if it comes out for Playstation 3 and Wii aswell. Think about it, Abe HD is being made to help Oddworld make profits for future games right? You want more Oddworld so by releasing the game on multiple platforms they can rack up more sales resulting in more profit resulting in more games. So do you really want Abe HD to be a Playstation 3 exclusive now?

What about you? Do you own a computer? Or are you so loyal to the PS that you're going to hold an embargo on any game that has ever been released on the Xbox, irrespective of what platforms it's available on now?

I think a Munch HD remake would be the best thing for the game. If they can also add more levels as well (such as more Scrab, Paramite Levels) it would be awesome.

if theyre gunna remake Munch, I think they should start from scratch and pretend munch never happened 10 years ago. follow the original idea with Ma'spa and that song engine/machine/factory (whatever it was)

Remake MO from scratch yeah, but still being consistent with the events that happened in the MO from 10 years ago, not explicitly replaying them, but still treating the story told trough that game as canon.

Would be kinda cool if they made a 2d version. Keep the story but make the gameplay like the originals. The water levels could be like ecco the dolphin but with dead bits of mudoken floatingg around. That would be pretty cool lol.

Yes but I own a laptop. Laptop's aren't really for gaming. I highly doubt as well that my laptop would have the right specs for playing MO. A lot of people with proper PCs have had trouble running MO and SW graphically. Never been a fan of playing a game that is more controller based on say a platformer anyways.

However I don't agree with the guy saying that he doesn't want SW HD to go to XBLA. Surely you would want OWI/JAW to make more money from each project on as many platforms as possible without effecting the quality of the product, so that they can make more Oddworld games.

Hmm; I kinda agree, I recall seeing the early PS2 demos on Youtube and thinking "Wow! This is better than the finished product!". So I can't quite agree the game should be remade from complete scratch; I think they should just remake so its more faithful to the gameplay featured in the earlier demos, for it looked more challenging than what featured in the finished Xbox version. The levels also looked a lot more entertaining. The graphics could also do with a revamp; because compared to the other games I had owned on the Xbox, MO was the worst. Another thing they could do is ditch those boring cutscenes with the newspapers; I mean come on, I don't need to see a cutscene everytime I complete a level.

To correct you, there were never any PS2 demos. You're probably referring to the pre-rendered gameplay visualizations.
