Pro tip: Sequels for interesting films that are not made by the original creators will always, always, always be a terrible waste of time.

How to Train Your Dragon.

Yes, I'm late. And I didn't actually finish it, I only got up to the bit where they've just set sail for the dragons' lair with Toothless on board, and Hiccup said he's going to do something crazy.

The Scottish accents on the Vikings annoyed me almost as much as the plain American ones that were reserved for the children. But I guess the story was alright, though it differed vastly from the book, in which the Vikings trained Dragons as pets for generations before the story.

In the book, Hiccup couldn't catch himself a proper dragon like the other kids did, and ended up with a dragon that his friend joked was a near-extinct and more dangerous version of the Monstrous Nightmare - the Toothless Daydream. Needless to say, Hiccup named it Toothless.

So yeah, the plot was vastly different, and the Viking tribe wasn't that of the Hairy Hooligans, which was disappointing, but I guess I've enjoyed what I saw so far.

I was watching the Lost World, and i noticed something:

You know how the T-Rex is shipped to the dock, and the crew is killed? If the T-Rex was the only thing aboard, and gigantic, how did it manage to kill the guys in the boat's bridge without tearing the bridge in half?

I watched I'm Still Here last night, which is the "documentary" that follows Joaquin Phoenix's "retirement" from acting, "rap career", and "mental breakdown".

Now, obviously the whole thing is a hoax, but it feels like it accomplished what it set out to do. It's main purpose was to take a look at celebrity, and what it can do to a person. Unfortunately, while this theme is probably very interesting to celebrities, I found myself not really caring.

Inside Nature's Giants: Giant Squid. My lord, that may have been the single most interesting hour of of education I've ever experienced. I hope Bullet Magnet saw it, and would recommend it to anybody else. It has lots of cool footage (Including the obligatory Octopus-Suddenly-Shedding-Algae-Clump-Camoflauge clip), I especially liked the slow-mo of a squid grappling a fish with its tentacles, and a close-up of a cuttlefish's shin changing texture. Seriously, you have smooth white skin, which suddenly tightens as a barbed shark-fin emerges and stretches out, while the skin turns a murky green.

Squid are just the most alien thing on this planet, a completely different approach to survival. They have three hearts, two just to pump blood from the gills back into the main one. The have arms that can tighten like steel cables by squeezing fluid into them. They have tentacles that flip out like chameleon's tongues. They have club hands that attatch together like press-studs, holding prey tight. Their brain is tiny, shaped like a donut, and has the oesophagus going straight through the hole in the middle, but they have two enormous optic lobes attatched to the sides. They have a squidgy jelly body, but a bone-hard parrot beak in the middle. Their tongue has shark teeth on it. They have a tubular breathing system, sucking water in at the sides and shooting it out the back. Their eye lenses are the size of your entire eyes. They can squirt sticky, mucusy ink. All of their organs are in their head. Their sperm is contained inside a dart, which is then shot into the arm of the female like a tranquiliser (Best. Reproductive system. Ever.). Hell, they've even got blue blood, because it's copper based. You couldn't invent a better alien than that.

I watched The Railway Children with my nephew at about half past two today. I haven't seen it for years, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got a bit bored about half way through, though, because I could have sworn that the landslide sequence was the penultimate sequence.

I watched that at 3:30 this morning after being unable to relax and fall asleep. Bad move. This was one of the most creepy and gross documentaries I've seen in my life.

That said, it's fascinating and I would recommend it to anyone. Just don't try and eat a meal at the same time as watching it.

I saw "The Affair of the Necklace"

It was an average movie; there was little special about it. The plot was great, though. It was, sadly, the only inriguing thing about the movie.

It's based on a true story. I know most of the story, so I was bothered whenever it wandered from the origional tale.

I only watched it because I'm related to Cardinal deRohan and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that isn't.

I watched a film recently and for the life of me I cannot remember what it's called. It features Robin Williams as a photo-developer and he's crazy obsessed with this family.
I seen it whenever I was in class but it was a tremendously good show.

Huh. I really enjoyed the T-Rex in town stuff. Just random curious destruction.

Did you see the third one? It wasn't a good film, but the action scenes were pretty reasonable and the random curious destruction quota was high.

They played them all back to back on Channel Seven just this weekend. The third one was okay, but it just kinda ended with no fanfare. I liked the second one for being more exciting, but the first one was the best.

I liked the first one for actually having heart.

The second and third were just action romps with dinos.

I liked the second book more than the first one, though.

Saw the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, and I actually liked it better than the original. Shame though that Jackie Earle Haley probably won't get anywhere near the exposure of Robert Englund. He may not have been as great Englund, but he managed to be a worthy successor.
