Damn. I almost expected an intelligent and respectful reply. Should've known.

But fine, yes. This thread is not for "pissing matches". Therefore I digress.

Scraby, I hope you will forgive us for the pissing. Have you made any progress with your game? If not, have you got any ideas about what the game will be like? A rough storyline? Gameplay ideas? I'd be interested in anything you have to show/tell us whether it be progress to the project itself or not. I never progressed far with my own projects anyway so it would be hypocritical of me put you down which, though it may seem like it, I'm honestly not trying to do.

and yet you continue to provoke me. i'm a troll. haven't you understood when and when not to start typing a reply? personally, i don't care; going off topic isn't a problem for me. it is to you, though, so i was hoping you'd shut the fuck up. obviously, i was wrong.

posting a paragraph about the original topic after you've just egged someone on isn't staying on topic. its dancing around the parameters of being a twat whilst not actually breaking any rules. you're a fucking passive/aggressive cunt and i can't stand you. you knew when you first posted a reply to me that i wouldn't take you seriously, so why bother? isn't it evident that i fucking hate you? once again, you couldn't resist replying to me. why is that?

the good thing about this situation is, you either reply to me and prove my point, or you don't because you've gotten your desired reaction. i couldn't care less about infractions, but i'm pretty certain you care about them. isn't that glorious, Carnix? hahaha.

GOOD LUCK WITH THE GAME!

So very, very wrong.

I wasn't trying to stay on topic, we were already off-topic Mr Troll sir.
I was merely attempting to return to topic. It seems I have failed in that.

:
you're a fucking passive/aggressive cunt
Is this your new favourite insult or are you actually so naive that you consider me passively aggressive?

:

So why so eager to tempt me into replying?

I'm sure I must have made this clear somewhere in our little PM session; I enjoy your pathetic reactions to being "fed".

Would that be the point; "you couldn't resist replying to me"? Oh yes, quite proven. Isn't that glorious? hahaha.

I may have cared about infractions once but no, now you come to mention it, my presence on these forums makes no difference to me and I doubt I'd even really care to see a ban under this account.
Perhaps you should place realism before "certainty".

I'd wish you luck with the game again, Scraby, but I assume we all agree that it's getting old and doesn't mean anything anymore. This thread is fast becoming that pissing match either way.

yeah. you fail quite a lot, don't you.

naive? ha, you think you aren't?

err...because i'm trolling you? because you're too much fun? because you're stupid?

would you like me to post those PM's? because they're nothing like what you're making them out to be, my little exaggerator.

i love it when you repeat exactly what i said previous. proves you can't think of anything worthwhile to say yourself.

yes. we all agree, Carnix. all agree that i just dragged you down to my level. the smart thing to do would have been to ignore me, but no. not in your case.

So will it be in the same style as AO and AE or are you coming up with a new idea for gameplay?
Will players be playing as Abe?
What sprite-style are you planning on using?
Are you attempting this yourself or are you assembling/hoping to assemble a team?
I recommend keeping this thread up to date with your latest ideas and concepts while you work on advancing the project itself. The more people you can keep interested the more help will be on offer should you come to need it.
I'm really hoping to see someone break the long-standing tradition of abandoned fan-game projects so I'm starting to consider offering help myself.
Good luck again, Scraby.

If you got those sprites from the Paul thing you're not going to get the other sprites you need any time soon...
If you've managed to acquire the original sprites from elsewhere then post a how-to and you'll be a godd!

The harsh and simple truths:
Everybody wants to have all the original sprites.
Nobody knows how to get them.

Sorry, but, unless you know something I don't, I highly recommend steering away from the "original sprites" path.

well i know how to ripp the animations out but after that its time consuming thing to finish the pictures to remove the background.... the program is called animget, after downloading it create folder animget at program files or wherever you install things, place the exe and create directory shots and you load game, activate animget and activate observe, after getting animations by walking-jumping-crouching,you simply, gather pictures cut out abe and comes the part to remove background, thats that

Someone who knew how to program could probably make something which recorded the Oddworld game (or just looked at an already-recorded video) and read the differences between each frame and the next. Since the screens are stationary, Abe running around by himself should produce, once the similarities between the frames are removed, just him - right?

Or would that be more troublesome than simply cutting the sprites out?

The problem with cutting the sprites out is that, for the most part of my experience, they include anti-aliasing (semi-transparent pixels to help smoothen edges). Anti-aliasing makes accurately ripping the original sprites ni-on impossible and I doubt anyone has the time, bother and know-how to create a program that can recognise and fix anti-aliasing in any format of media.
When I was attempting to rip sprites from AE this way I had to open each sprite up, frame by frame, in Adobe Fireworks and use the rubber tool at various transparencies to replicate the anti-aliasing. This, however, was menial and heavily time-consuming and simply wasn't worth the shoddy results. The colour of the background I'd ripped the sprites off of was clearly visible around the edges of the sprites in most cases and, without pixel-by-pixel hue editing, I doubt it would be fixed.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
