Happy oddworld fan game

I started the production of a new fan game(the old one got scrapped since lack of free time),and everything is going nice but i need some backgrounds and platforms...
well i would need abe walk and run anim from game i have all other anims i think

yep,abe in a new factory,im still thinking about the story,you can join in creation if you wish,i have just begun with an empty gmk but soon ill add the sprites,(as soon as i get the animations and backgrounds).there would be sligs,and slogs(probably).Abe will have a weapon(grenade) and limited ammo.ask if u want to join... edit: how to ripp sprites from the game becouse i need the abe turn anim and slig turn anim and....

Ill try,well i thought about it... The mobilizations co. (slig pants production and any other oddworld vehicle or something that moves or has legs).The target will be the boiler room,and there would be 3 zulags i hope,so if you want you can be the co producer so if i lose time,you have the backup so that it doesnt get scrapped,you can work on it too,

No, I don't use gm8, I use pen and paper to design my levels. (What is gm8?)

I could get gm8 and learn how to use it though if you wanted me to.

another fan game project... i saw a lot of them. Half of them weren't even on that level of work which allow authors to post anything on forum, and none of them were finished.

Only projects that seems to be still alive are "Abe Odysee fan remake" and my project. Before you start thinking about storyline and how big the game will be, you must be syre that you are able to do at least half (or even more) of things you need to do with your current skills. Othervise you don't have even chance to finish it. I've made a lot of things to my project, but i'm still wondering that it can be overchallenge for me.

Ok, I have downloaded Game Maker Pro and have made the tutorial game on it, so I know the very basic idea of how to use it.

with gamemaker you won't create very much... For small fan project it's better idea to use Adobe Flash (if you want to learn it)

Was that really a worthwhile post? This thread was slowly descending to the bottom of the page but all of a sudden, you come along and post this? Nothing constructive; nothing useful.

You do raise a valid point, though. I'd assume something happened to the files or he felt the old game too buggy to continue. I know how the latter feels...

No, it doesn't.

Just use a similar-sized, single-frame sprite and replace it when a walking animation becomes available to you.
I have started helping a fair few fangames with their sprite department and it takes up a lot of my time. None of these games even reached a satisfying beta release. How can anyone be sure that this project will get even close to that far?
I will consider helping you with not only walking, but all your sprites when, and only when, you can prove you'll take this project somewhere.

Try completing and releasing the game engine. That's always very impressive and is likely to get people on board with your project.

Sorry if the above seems to be in a harsh tone but, however tempting it may be, collecting sprites and building the game around them rather than building the game then implementing sprites is a mistake that far too many people make.

i personally don't create that type of topics unless i have something interesting to show. I still haven't showed my Rupture Farms environment on any other forum, because it isn't looking good enought to show it on UDK forum, or on Polycount. I also have 6 unfinished levels for Unreal Tournament 3 and i relased only one beta. Rest was seen only by me and 2-3 other persons .

I don't want to discourage you, but this topic is similiar to many others (enchilado's for example). It's just like lection promises . There is a lot of them, but almost none of them is coming to live .

Although Fartuess is relatively new to these forums he may have decades of experience of the same sort of thing from else-where. You can't accurately judge someone on how long they've been here for much anything.

I also agree, with Fartuess, that this sort of thread is only really worthwhile if there's something worthwhile to show. and by "worthwhile" (the second one) I'm talking a lot more than an idea or declaration. It's much more intriguing to see what someone has done than read that they plan on doing it. Also, available content shows that the project is already going somewhere and makes the thread, and the project itself, more likely to continue, if only for a short while.

I don't mean to sound negative, although I know that it would be futile to try not to, but at least I'm not hiding behind smilies. ()
Nevertheless I will make the statement that I also don't mean to discourage you, Scraby, and continue to wish you luck with your project.

MA, I would like to ask you how a fact can be "ill-based". As I understand it you probably, under a technicality, meant to use the word 'opinion'. If that is the case, what makes you believe that Fartuess' opinions are ill-based?
