Actually it can cost a lot of money to run a website... especially a large scale site like Daily Radar was.
Some of the costs involve are staff to work on it, a server to host it on, bandwidth (this is usually charged by the amount of people that visit the site), people to run the technical side, domain registration ... just to name a few.
Even fan sites can cost money to run. For Oddworldian and Oddworld-Web there is cost of domain names and server space (I'm lucky however as a friend helps me there).
In the short time I have been a Final Fantasy fan I have seen 2 major fan sites go down and another have problems cost wise. You see the more popular something is, the more people visit, and the end result is the more it costs (see bandwidth above). At the moment, Oddworld Forums is just a small community, but this has the potential to grow a lot when Munch is released. And this could mean more costs involved. We will come to that when it comes as it would be nice to have Oddworld Forums booming with visitors!
