Somehow, through all the offensiveness, the on-topic conversation has managed to survive, so I see no need to close the thread, but any continuation of the bullying that has occured in here will not be tolerated. Warnings have been handed out liberally.
The thing with Stranger's Wrath is that it manages to present almost all the charm and philosophy that Oddworld carries without having to use existing avatars such as Abe the hero and Glukkons the antagonists. I say almost all because the philosophy of the weakling underdog anti-hero clearly isn't present in the game. OWI can tell us how Stranger has a bad heart all they want, he's still clearly the badass we all want to be instead of the average Joe we are, and I don't see how it not being a Quintology title is in any way relevent to that; but apart from the that, the political and social commentary, the quirky humour, the ALIVE world, the Hollywood production values and the character-driven story are all present and correct in this incarnation.
As for why Munch's Exoddus wasn't made: Munch's Oddysee wasn't a popular game. It didn't go down well with the fans, it didn't receive critical acclaim, and it did poorly on the market. Lorne in part blamed the game's lack of promised content by claiming that current videogaming technoogy wasn't up to delivering the epic stories and features he wanted to showcase in the Quintology, so he developed the idea of Stranger's Wrath, which ironically enough just happened to become the most advanced and epic Oddworld game yet. I fail to see how it can offend fans by not containing Abe. There will be more Abe games in the future, and the ones that already exist aren't lost irretrievably in the past.
