Oddworld

Hmm nothing about triple posts.
Anyway here my letter from Alf,
:
Hey there Trusting,

There will be at least one more familiar character but I am not going to spoil it for you yet! And don't worry, you'll get plenty of humor in this game. Oddworld Stranger's Wrath is a far cry from Abe, but I think you are going to love it, just wait!

Stay Odd,
Alf

Shadowman1233@aol.com wrote:

Dear Alf,
I have been looking at all I can find of the Newest Oddworld title and couldn't help but notice that this Stranger seems a bit too serious. I have lived In Oddworld all my life and I have never seen a character so shady, swift, and sly. Were as our savior Abe is a bit more relaxed, well a lot more. I tried to get some info from the Fourms but they were too flip floppy. I watched EA's quicktime movie at least say 50 times. Then I gave up and decided to ask the source. In the movie the only character recognized by previous players (But I am more than a player I freak'in live here, in the forest) are the fuzzles we will see Sligs, Glukkons, Vykkers etc in the game right. But we got to get Abe back into his step in the Oddworld games because he is running out of close escape stories.
Sincerly,
Odd Trusting
Sound like where on the right path

Nothing personal about that it just we got 2 strong sides in this thread debating against if it was a Vykker or not. Nothing personal against any of you or the Oddworld forums

Interesting to know is that in the Australian Edge magazine there's a 6 page preview of Strangers Wrath.

Alf revealed that there is in fact one Vykker in the game, so that wraps this thread into a neat little package.

Sorry if I sounded sarcastic[\simpsons]

There's some pretty gnarly info about Octigi in the AoOW book. I'm working from memory but I think it says that the Octigi are an octopus-like creature that attacks a powerful person and takes control over there body, or something like that. The guy in the suit is an Octigi currently controlling someone.

I've no idea how they've worked that into a game.

That's realy interesting NDW. The idea is great, so it's like possesion, Abe vs Ocgiti. This could mean something in SW.

Perhaps this will explain how Oddworld was influenced
:
Yep! That's it! Jump in and stop by for a visit! ; )

Stay Odd,
Alf

Hey Alf I noticed something strange here in Oddworld on the edge of Mudos. Their is a portal open in the middle of the forest, on the other side are these weird creatures that have hair that covers there whole head, have unnatural skin color and work on computers all day. Is this a portal to that place in California in a small little quint town that is know as the Oddworld Inhabitants building
Sincerly,
A truely confused mudokon, Odd Trusting
Though that was it, thnks for clarifying Alf

Small spam, small spam only. Well when I started this tread I didn't want to have strick follow in lines anyway after we got a pretty solid answer.

p.s. anyone who was wondering about the package and OI let me clarify. I ain't going to be part of OI if that was your guess (I said it was great but it wasn't that great) but anyway I still can't tell you whats in it

If you know it is spam, whether small or large, you are already guilty. As for how we decide what type of spam there is, there is no distinction. Stop spamming, and stop impersonating.

As for the Gloktigi information, coolies. Perhaps they changed the designs / workings of the initial concept art we have.

The graphics of this screen shot look very sub-par compared to some of the other screenshots we've seen. It could have been an early on fill in character before they had completely developed the doctor character. I'm not really stating my opinion one way or the other. Could be a vyker, could not be. This screen shot definately leads to vykker, especially given the bone saw on the sign. I guess we'll all just have to wait untill January 26th and find out.

In the game, yes, but not in the realtime gameplay, which I think is what you mean.

The latest Xboxyde features make a mention of the Vykkers doc. It's for sure that this dude is in the game.

gloctigi or octigi are obvious creature you see in the first Munch movie hanging from the Vykkers ceiling, I think. I wrote about it in one of my addition of my Unoffical Oddworld magizine. I remember that issue cause we all debated that it was either octigi or gloctigi

Excsqueezeme? There are no gloctigi in Munch. I doubt they would even hang out in vykkers labs as they would likely be hostile to the vykkers and/or any successful potential host.

Can you be a bit more specific about where you think you saw it?

You know in the first Munch movie where he is being operated on an when the vykker makes his chop with the bone saw above him is a strange looking creature and when the vykker is starring down at Munch. Although I debated that it was just mechinary of some sort.

I can only assume you mean the big array of operating machinery that is holding lights, lenses and clamps to hold munch's head. It doesn't look anything like a gloctigi.

No, not that, it it is in a jar almost looks like it is not even near fully grown, it is hard to explain without being there. Sorry but I will try and get some pictures of it if I can find a way to make a screen shot on an Xbox

Is it possible you're getting confused with the shot where humphrey throws something at the rubbish bin and there's a rat sitting on top?

[though I've never understood why there should be a rat in vykker's labs]

After watching the movie three times, I can honestly say I don't see anything resembling a Gloktigi or Octigi. There are metal contraptions that vaguely remind me of a Slig, though. But vaguely.

The thing I am talking about isn't really in focus, but if you have the ability to stall your Xbox on command (this is my old xbox, and if you give it a slight tap on the CD drive it stalls) and you hit it at the right time in one of those medicine cabinets you can see what looks like one

Not exactly sure were it appears in specific detail, I will go over and fire the xbox up and see if I can name some specifics of when it occurs like how many seconds into the film it appears, it isn't very prominent but I think it is a octigi or gloctigi embryo or something becuase it has that vykker like head about it. I will post soon about it

Posted this in the main forum regarding the series of new screenshots:

We've heard about how Stranger is 'suffering' from some physical malady, well it seems likely that this is what he's consulting the Vykker about. Perhaps Stranger is trying to prevent his horns from growing in, what with the notion of trying to be something he's not, and wants the Vykker to fix it.(Not to mention that people wanting to kill him for them could be considered life-threatening) The Vykker however, suggests that the horns might be of value to someone, and puts Stranger on the phone with that Gloktigi dude. Stranger is disturbed by the Gloktigi's eagerness to own his horns, thus setting him on the path to discovering his true nature.
