Stranger's Doc
As many times as may need to say I many say it again. I am NOT a new member I have lived in Oddworld all my life as a free Mudokon in a peaceful village were Alf, Abe and Munch (yeah Munch stops by sometimes). For more info please read my sig. I was thinking to myself laying on the ground on a early Oddworldian morning "who's strangers doc, is he a Vykker" cause I saw this drawing of Stranger and a Vykker that they were using in a scene. Somebody got any answers
|
Fisrt off, velkommen. But I have to tell you that you don't need to make the "I'm from Oddworld" joke to gain poularity. Just be yourself, man. Or woman. Hard to tell who people are on this Internet creature.
And besides, we all know that I AM FROM ODDWORLD. SECOND of all, to answer your question, I don't think anyone besides the fine, upshtunding members at OWI know the answer to that. Personally, I find Vykkers to be creepy. But it would make sense to have a Vykker operate on Stranger. Again, I welcome you to this species of "Forum." Have the fun, don't eat anything off the browser. |
Right back at ya
Well this is you know who again...did you check out my profile namely my Website....see it, that is what makes me an Oddworld creature (more namely the Mudokons) by the way if you got Questions as to my true orgins Alf will back me up, either that or I've gone completely insane. Also sorry about being unclear, I am not a new member because I have been a member for a long time. For a long time I did not write anything and my aged mind betrayed me and I could not remember my account (Big screw up). Thanks for your reply, Yeah I am kinda crazy

Yah...back on topic kids.
Stranger's Doctor could very well be a Vykker. There's some art, and even a screenshot with a Vykker somewhere. However, I recently saw an online video interview with Lorne and a couple other Inhabitants. They said the only familiar thing would be fuzzles...everything else is new. Hmmmmm. -oddguy |
From story Board Clippigns I've seen, I think he/she is a Vykker
|
definatly a vykker...
I know this isn't a proof, but who else? |
I thought I might be right
|
It has to be a vykker.
|
That's right, lorne said the only the creature was the fuzzles, he didn't mention Vykkers.
|
Humm...a hard one we have found.
|
:
|
Thats what I thought, but lorne didn't have to say Fuzzles were the only one that will appear in the game.
|
We saw a vykker in a screenshot (I can tell it we are in the spoiler topic :p)
perhaps lorne said that to not spoil the game for us, which is very kind :) |
*spoiler*
Like that guy who dose the voice for Mr Increble about the babey in The Increbles, he says the baby dosn't have any super powers. */spoilers* The story will get very twisted when you proccess through the game,I'm realy looking forward what might happen in the end. |
Well there was that screenshot in the surgery with some vykker-looking knives and stuff. Maybe its a different type of vykker; not an industrialised one like Irwin and Humphrey but a vykker living in the sticks trying to make an honest living out of his doctorial skills.
|
I thought Vykkers could do other things too though.
|
hmmm basicly Vykkers are first sadics, and then doctors...
they began to be doctors to legalize their "tests" on fuzzles |

-Oddworld Inhabitants, Vykker Bio. :
|
Well du'h!
Just look at the bloody signe in the screenshot. |
That certainly looks like a vykker in the above pic. And the fact that the vykker is hanging in front of the "Docs Retreat: [For a]ll yer surgical needs" sign suggest that Stranger's doc may be a vykker.
But I like the idea that the doctor may be a new species; I'm not really fond of the "one species for one profession/ social rank". But then again seeing the vykkers again would be cool. But then why did Lorne say that fuzzles were the only members of the cast that were old? Maybe he meant the fuzzles were the only recurring "good guys" (if you can call fuzzles that?). |
Well arnt Vykkers good guys? I mean they save strangers medical problem.
|
Yeah, but not out of the kindness of their hearts. The whole premise of the game is stranger turning to bounty hunting in order to pay off the huge medical bill.
|
I have come to the conclusion that OWI treats, "creatures," and, "inhabitants," as different...things.

Vykker screen
Is it just me, or does that screen look like it may be an early screen from the game? I know it was with the new screens on XBW, but don't you think that some of the in-game screens look like they have improved drastically with the graphics even more than this one? I had heard rumors before from several sources a long time ago that some mudokons were going to appear in the game (it was in a magazine, but I can't remember which) and in the end the salamanders (sp?) ended up being the "native" type people in this game and the mudokons are more than likely not going to appear in it. I'm just saying that this may be the same case with the vykkers and that Stranger's doctor may be a whole new different species. I'm just figuring this since Lorne said that only the fuzzles were reappearing in the game. Maybe Stranger's doctor is a vykker, but maybe he isn't. I thought early on that only a vykker could be his doctor since vykkers are specialized in medical purposes, but I'm really not sure. This is just my theory. Anyone else have anything better?

Yes, but what Lorne said doesn't match up with the idea that Vykkers appear in the game. The existence of Vykkers in previously drawn pictures or storyboards does not prove anything. Those pictures were taken from ages back. One suggestion at the time was that the Vykkers among other previously seen Oddworld creatures were simply place holders.
Alcar... |
Alcar how do you explain this screenshot then?

Sorry. |
Nepharski, I know... but obviously Alcar overlooked it...
that's why I pointed it out to him... |
