I know what you mean mann! I am going to pick it up today but the DVD and video release took me on surprise when I first found out several months ago. I thought it would be fall apparently not and a good thing too. I dunno you think they will make an extended edition of ROTK? Knowing just how long it is I can just imagine how long the extended version would be. Ah nothing like the extended trip into a fantasy world of visual eye candy!

Paramiteabe...

Is the extended version coming out in December? I hope it has the Mouth of Sauron and the watchers at the Tower of Cirith Ungol.

Yes, I know for a fact that it's coming out. PJ had to finish up the extended version of ROTK before he could start pre-production of King Kong.

I'm really wanting to see the fight between Gandalf and the WitchKing. You'll notice in ROTK, when Gandalf finds his way to the chambers where Denathor is trying to burn Faramir, he has to grab a spear from a nearby guard. That's because they cut out the part where the WitchKing breaks Gandalf's staff.

I picked it up on tuesday at ten in the morning. I drove over to blockbuster, and I watched it straight through from start to finish. And then I watched it actually again today, along with some scenes a few times over cuz its just so awesome.

Well I just rented ROTK this past weekend. All I can say is you guys have said it all. Oh and wow.

I am a huge Tolkien fan, I've been a fan of his along with C.S. Lewis (creators of the Narnia Chronicles and good friend of Tolkien) for over 20 years. I've read books that chronicled their lives together, plotted out the timelines of major events in their lives and how it affected their works. Well let's just say I'm a fan.

I want to watch it again already, is that wrong of me? Actually my friends and I are going to have a marathon of all three movies. SIGH.

I can't wait to have all the extended versions, then I can get up early and start my LOTR trilogy marathon.

Yes, C.S. Lewis is another one of my favorite authors as well. It is very cool to know that Tolkien and Lewis were firends, and they had a little club were they'd discuss their ideas with one another. C.S. Lewis even dedicated one of his books to Tolkien. I forget which one. Lemme think...

So very true!!! I can't wait.

Could the book you're thinking of be Mere Christianity? For some reason that's popping out in my mind.

I've been so busy lately, I haven't been able to watch ROTK more that twice, which is very sad.

Oh, and my little sister who has spina-bifida is going in for surgery to have a bubble in her neck removed, so she took the portable DVD player with her and the entire LOTR collection. She'll have a nice little marathon in the hospital, since she'll be there at least a week. I just love that kid.

I've got the ROTK video... I don't own a DVD player!!!!!!! don't start with the PS2/Xbox stuff... I can bearly run games on those things never mind DVDs!

Haven't watched it yet! I'm sooooo excited... hope its as good on the small screen! I'm gonna do a whole 9 hour marathon one Sunday!

Thoughts and prayers with your little sis OG... she sounds great... and LOTR fan is cool in my book!

EDIT! Oooh! Oooh! Oddguy (looking back!) I think you're right about the CS Lewis / Tolkein connection... weren't they lecturers together? Tolkien was... he discussed his ideas for the stories he wrote for his kids with his fellow profs and dons... hense the extreme lengths he went to in developing the whole worlds, cultures and languages... it was like a department hobbie or something!

Sounds like the lenses on your Xbox and PS2 are dirty. An easy fix. You can buy a CD that has tiny little brooms on it, and it'll clean your lense. If that doesn't work, you may need some kind of cleaning solution made specifically for CD lenses.

Well, I take good care of my videogame systems, so I've never had a problem. [/boast]

Okay, back to LOTR. Or else!

Read my post a few back where I talk about the Tolkien/Lewis connection!

Oddguy, best of luck to your sis - and I can't think of a better way to pass time in a hospital than by watching great movies like that! Seriously you could watch them a couple of times in a row and still not be bored!
