Yeah, I saw it with a very good friend of mine. She just had rented the first two the week before to finally see them (the extended versions) and we saw ROTK last friday. It was my third time seeing it though.

I am just glad I got my extended Fellowship and extended Two Towers.

Mann I got to go see ROTK again. I am deeply inspired by Tolken's work that I myself am produceing my own myth an fantasy world. Oddguy knows a little bit about it.

Tolkien is indeed inspiring to me as well. I have a world I'm writing in a novel, so whenever I get somewhat discouraged, I know it took Tolkien 14 years to complete Lord of the Rings, so I realize I have plenty of time.

I personally have had a story Ive been creating in my mind, but I probably wouldnt publish the completed story. I could change my mind down the road though, its mainly just for my own interests and not for really anyone else, I seriously doubt anyone will top what Tolkien spent almost his entire life creating, the mythology, history, stories, maps, etc. I dont event think he finished his full plan for LOTR either, and that even his son had to finish up his early notes from the trenches of World War I.

One day I was drawing and I saw this amazing character before me. I continued on the drawing and made it even better. Then, based on how it looked etc, I created a small story behind that kept building and building in my mind. Finally, I decided I wanted to write a novel and I have about 25 pages. Of course, it's far from finished. I keep going back and fixing things on it.

Oh, and be careful Al, when Tolkien started, he wasn't planning on publishing either!

But you guys don't understand I am creating maps of my world, I am developing new kinds of cultures, createing stories from these cultures, produceing illustrations of this world. Everything I do is all original work from me. Its going from my head onto paper and thats what counts. My friends that takes a lot paitients and talent.

I am not worried on wether I will get my stories and illustrations published and sold to clients. I simply want to it and I am going to do it. I am a free lance artist and writer and its basically my lifes work. I want to build my career from this. I have been working my myth for almost 5 years now. It started out as a Science fiction epic now its a little bit of both worlds. Science Fiction and fantasy.

Have you ever read the book "The Wheel of Time." There is another inspiration for me. One of my favorite things to do as an artist is to go to borders, order myself a cup of coffie, and take an art book off the self and just skim the books at the awesome work done by others. And I would spend by myself a few hours at Borders just simply sitting down and reading and looking at the work done by others. If your going into comercial art or Illustration such as I, I do recomend you do that. Just constantly look at books and use what you looked at in books for your advantage as an artist to produce your own work. As artist we are visual communitcaters. We communicate visually. Its more than sitting at a table and makeing pretty pictures. You have to know how to write, speak, research, and be real real observant of detail around you. People have ideas and there all neat but a selected few actually go and create their worlds. I don't want to sound like I am bragging here or anything but I feel I am one of those selected few thankyou very much!

I do that all the time at Borders. Coffee, a cookie and a nice book to look at...very fun. I do prefer Barnes and Noble, but I don't live close enough to one.

Hey Oddguy have you ever heard of Bud Plant Comic Art?

Its located in Grass Valley CA.

I say this because they mail out catalogs where you can order art books from like Spectrum and so on. Even Giger's books. They even issue art books that have not yet made it to stores. Its a catalog where you can order the art book from the catalog eather on line or by mail. I just looked at it and a friend of mine who is in my illustration With Pen and Ink class showed me this. He told me its free to get on their mailing list. Once you do that you get a new catalog every season for free. I saw some of the prices on art books that are for sale in this book. And its cheap but it verys. You could also order printed pieces from this book. Here is the web site. They also sell comic book art and all kinds of stuff. When u sign up though for the catalog your going to go through billing information. That is only for when you place an order for the book you want from the catalog. The catalog is free and if you sign up you altimatically get a new catalog every season. Its pretty cool. www.budplant.com

Yes I do understand, I also know a lot of other people are doing this and that a lot of people will do this. I can see you are obviously trying your hardest and would like to become the next Tolkien, and it may be so. I was merely saying that a lot of people are creating their own universes, maps, cultures, social customs, civilisations, races, names, people, gods, mythical creatures, inside-world fairy tales etc etc. But good luck to ya.

Its all cool mann. The one thing I learn to overcome in my entire free lance career is to not take critisisem so harshly. Being critisised is all part of the process of becomming a professional. I am a great artist and very professional at what I do but I am no legond. But you know I don't really care on wether I become the next legond or not. All I care about is my work my vision I layout on paper. Thats what satisfies me and that is being an artist.

Has anyone besides me noticed that the Orcs keep changing? I'm sure it's something we all have seen but they get more human with each movie. Ugluk and Grishnakh in TTT did look quite human compared to those Moria Orcs, I know they're different because they're Uruk Hai...but still, they're more humanoid than in the first one.

I did notice that they look the same, but they've become more vocal. In FOTR, it seemed the Orcs and Uruk's were the brutal growling type. Yelling and grunting as a form of communication. Then in TTT we see them speak as if they talk all the time. Nothing that really bugged me. I mean, it would have been really annoying to read captions as the Orcs hissed a conversation.

Whoooo! ROTK won all 11 categories they were nominated in tonight! ROTK is now tied with Ben-Hur and Titanic for most won oscars! I'm so happy for PJ and his incredible team! I hope they have great time partying the night away! It was just so decent of the Academy to regocnize ROTK! I'm just so happy!
Am I going to write a single sentance in this post without the exlamation mark?! Guess not!

Man tonight was great for me and also great for ROTK! I was pleased everytime to hear the music playing when ROTK won!

It was overdue for PJ and company and these films, plus for the whole Fantasy category in general.

I had a feeling after it won its first awards that it would win all of them it was time.

Other film makers and studios should learn from Peter Jackson to make their own vision to that quility. The most absolute key to makeing great films and I stress is through the talent. Theres no doubt about it that the talent patrayed by the artist and designers, the actors, the music artists etc etc has to be top notch paformance. So congratulations to Peter Jackson and his crew at Weta who knows how to make a movie.

I've got the extended editions of both released movies, and I can't wait for the last one. I'm so happy it won 11 oscars, but I'm still angry that TTT was only nominated 2 and FotR was only nominated for 4.

Duh-ooood! Just bought ROTK today. Didn't get to sit down and watch the whole thing, but I'll do that tomorrow. Anyway, I noticed that they didn't give us a preview of the Extended Edition as usual. Oh well, having the movie and finally being able to watch it in the comfort of mah livin' room is good enough for mwah.
