YouTube Partnership

So as from today, My YouTube Channel - Wariopunk25 is officially a Partner. I'm partnered with a new Network called TheNextGamer Network and I should be starting to earn money soon.

To me, this is a pretty big deal.

As you may or may not know, I've been having a rough time looking for a Job. It's really tough if you have literally no idea what to do. Seriously, If anyone here has always known what they wanted to do as a job, I envy you so fucking much.

However, inspiration stuck after watching the Yogscast start from a meager 20,000 subscribers when I first clicked on their channel to now having over 2 Million, a huge fan-base and a big company in Bristol. I finally saw something I want to do as a job.

Alright yeah, I won't never ever get to that level of fame but it inspired me to make videos, (It wasn't just the Yogscast, I've been a fan of ScottishDuck17 since he started and he's the reason why I LP games)

So yeah. I'm just going to keep on making videos, get a little bit of money and see how it goes. Obviously it's not going to be my main job, because it's not enough pay but at least it's a bit of income and I get to earn money what I love doing, which in all honestly, I thought I would be never doing.

Congrats, man. Being a YouTube partner would be pretty great, I'd imagine. Money for producing YouTube crap (no offense) would be a great way to make cash.

How much do you make, anyways? Does it depend on your views, subscribers and such?

I don't think you can actually make money from a partnership off videos containing copyrighted content. If you can, cool. I think you get about 50 bucks for every 50k views, so unless you're really popular, you're essentially making peanuts. Still pretty cool, though I wouldn't recommend it as a major source of income.

Well it is essentially being paid to do your hobby - Even if it's peanuts, that's still a good thing. Somehow you are allowed to make money from game-related vids - I'd consider doing it too but since none of my ideas are original, it wouldn't seem right somehow.

Still, congrats, Chris! Here's to hoping you get more subs.

For me it's not a case of knowing what job I want to do. I'm simply trying to find ANY part time job out there to do alongside my studies. There are hardly any jobs out and there and on the rare occasion I can find one I always get turned down

It's so damn depressing.

Well he isn't anything special to be honest but he did inspire me to make Let's Plays. I do find him rather funny and he has a good taste in games.

oh and well spotted, it's meant to be like that

I think it's views. But they didn't tell me so I don't know for sure.

Oh no of course not. I still need to find a job, Any will do fine.

You'll be getting money, but they didn't tell you how much/when?

And you agreed to that?

That's something you really should have asked about before signing anything but it is probably a variable amount per 1000 views, depending on the sort of ads you get. For how long is your current contract?

Actually that's why partnerships are deemed so valuable. Partnership networks have special deals with almost all game publishers to use their copyrighted work commercially. So being partnered with a gaming network actually enables you to make money of copyrighted content in a certain niche.

Okay. So now I understand why people make them. I will just never understand why people watch them.

Most are boring but they can be funny depending on who's doing them and if they work hard to keep them interesting with their own humour, rather than just doing plain walk-throughs with commentary - Like Criken2, Crendor, Spike & Barley, and also Wil and Liam's VG Toolbox.

Perhaps the trick is not to do full walkthroughs of games, but record yourself doing them (or maybe even live stream), then post all the interesting bits if your personality is good enough to generate enough of them to make good videos from. Works better with multiplayer.

Congratulations. Earning a bit of dough for doing something you enjoy? Sounds cool. What about taxes though (considering that you earn enough to be eligible for taxing)? Will you have to do it all yourself?

If people look at it you can stick an advertisment on it.

Then Youtube wouldn't exist in its current form. I kind of agree with you, OANST, but as long as it is there to be exploited I will gladly exploit it. Or at least hope to when my channel gets to the same level as Crash's.

Well done Crash, I know it won't be a lot of money but still, you're getting money for playing video games, sounds like a great job. Also, you could use the money you obtain to buy new games for LPs.

I'll watch a few of your videos.

It's understandable, why watch a game when you can play it? Well there are quite a few reasons to watch a LP. You could treat one as a walkthough if your stuck at a part, to see if a game your interesting in is good or not or just simply for entertainment.

Personally, I use LPs to find out about new games and also to watch how someone else approached and played a game that I've already played before. And I've also used a couple as a guide as well, much better then scrolling down and reading a bunch of text on GameFAQ or IGN.

Pewdie is an autistic piece of shit that needs to have his vocal chords surgically removed.

Otherwise I think the only LP commentator I don't totally hate is Paul of PieceofPieSoftware. Whereas most "comedy" LPers make me want to strangle a baby and put my boot through a wall, Paul is very laid back and natural.
