Why bother with religion?

Why, should people believe in all religions? as they have started nothing but wars and false images, for example why is there suffering and death sorrow and toil? And has god (assuming there is one) done anything for us? Just ask yourself this,WHAT HAS GOD DONE FOR YOU? Don't waste your life devoted to unproved beliefs, so i am saying this to you now people of the forums, free yourself.

if its not religion it would be something else to start a war and if you are refering to the middle east thing those people are not following religion they are just crazy people brain washing other people

religion helps keeps blance makes people think twice before they do something bad if there was no religion we would have all blown are selves up with A bombs and shit

Religions are made so that people can believe in something and gain strength and such from it in hard times. It's not just "I believe in God, and he tells me to start a war with you because your god is Buddha.". People need a base they can retreat to sometimes. One of those could be religion.
Just because you don't believe in anything doesn't make religion bad.

This is the only post I am making in here.

God didn't make religion, we did. God didn't divide us, we have divided ourselves. The only reason there are so many religions is because different people have different ways of worshiping God. I think most of us worship the same God...just in different ways. God doesn't care what religion you are in. He judges you by your heart, not your belief system.
Anyway, God has done many things for me, but I don't have to prove myself to anyone, so I won't go into detail for others to just mock.

WOW! I once had an acsidental religion thread... "The Debate Thread"... but I didn't do it on purpose... and I can't see why anyone would start a thread like that on purpose... it just makes people mad and hurts their feelings... so Lucipher, this is not a good way to start on the forums...

I agree to a certain extent. Religion makes people do things that they believe to be right. Whether you think the people in the Middle East are brain washed or not, they still do what they do to go to their version of Heaven. So in that aspect Religion is making people do wrong things...

As Oddguy said, God looks into your Heart. So if, like some of the "terrorists", you go and massacre a few hundred-thousand people, thinking you're doing Gods will...then God will let you into Heaven. It's not THEIR fault they did wrong...they were doing it for God...so that means they were doing it for all the right reasons. To them, they're making a difference in a good way. Which is another reason why Religion is bad, because people do bad things for, what they think are, good reasons.

However, Religion does make people use their inner strength. They pray to God. They "know" God will answer. And with this belief they make things happen themselves and then put it down to God. It makes the unwanted feel wanted. It makes the people who have no lives think they will get a second chance when they die. Most losers turn to religon so they have an excuse to be losers...

Anyway, i've been doing a couple of experiments recently to see if Lucifer and God are real. This is what happened -

Yesterday i didn't think James (this gorgeous Gay guy who's fone number i wanted desperatly) was at College. So i was abit down, but thought that if God was real he would make James come to College. So, i asked God (and Lucifer, just incase) to make James come to College. Anyway, a couple of minutes later i find out James is at College. 1 - 0 to the Religious people. Anyway, i see him quite abit that day, but don't have the confidence to ask for his number, so i basically destroy my chances. Anyway, College ends and i see him one more time and, once again, fail to get his number. So, i decide to wait for him outside the station (the word "obsessed" springs to mind) and i wait. And wait. And, oh yes, wait. Anyway, i then ask God "Right, if you're real...make James appear in the next...hmmm...five minutes." so i begin waiting. Anyway, whilst i do, i ask Lucifer "Right, you have the same thing...but if YOU'RE real...make him appear in the next 3 minutes...And God, feel free to make James appear before 3 mins.". Anyway, i wait and wish for James to appear. Timing them on my mobile...3 minutes comes and 5 seconds pass...and there he is...James...on his mobile...walking towards me...so yes. This proves that Lucifer is real. Or, that i do have powers since i did wish for him to come...anyway...the experiment is still in progress...

Anyways, people believe in religion because they feel helpless, they want a higher power to solve their problems.... God didnt create man, Man created God. When the first man created the concept of God, God existed.... well thats how i thought about it...

Religion is to save our souls so we wont burn in hell for eternitiy.... even though i think its pretty useless.... i just dont want to burn in hell...

ok all you people are saying is that if I belive in any given religion *cough*(joshy) then I will go too heaven and that isn't the case the devil creates all these other religions in our minds to fool us so we belive in that so we go through our whole lives thinking "I belive in the right religion" but then when you die you end up going to hell. just thought i would point that out to everyone.

What you just said was mightily offensive and a clear indication of how some Christian f*ckwits think. Now people, if one Christian thinks this you can bet a Hell of alot more will think the same thing.

This is why i support the idea of all Religions being abolished. Each Religion persecutes the other. States that the other Religion is evil and their Religion is the one true one.

Christians are some of the worst. Along with the Jehova's. These two Religions push their beliefs on you. One of them is saying you will go to Hell if you don't abide by its rules. And the other one is pestering you to join them also.

In a world with no Religion quite a few problems won't exist. And past wars would not have been fought and certain people would not have been killed.

Born again Christians are basically f*cking up their lives due to the fact they're throwing away their non-discrimatory lives and starting a new one which is against specific things. Which is just stupid.

But without Religion there would be a lack of decent games...so...that would be a bad thing.

Give it a couple of thousand years and 'The Lord of the Rings' will be the next big Religion...
