Is anyone else here a big fan of Terry Pratchett?

As you can guess from the thread name, I've started to memorise certain phrases from the guard quintology (seisology if you count Night Watch).

I have almost all the books, I have to get the rest of the Witch series(Granny Weatherwax, I think there's like 5 of em' Ive got 2),
and the only misceallaneous one I have is "Small Gods".

BTW, have you picked up, "The Last Hero" yet? It's actually really good.

My boyfriend knows Terry Pratchett's daughter. That's all I have to share really, 'cos I haven't read his books, although I was debating on buying one. Which is your favourite novel? Would like to know for future reference if I buy a book.

I've boght the Lost hero for my brither, It's pretty good.

As for Small Gods, that's not Misc. It's book 2 of 3, the first being "Pyramids", the last "Hogfather". There not very related, but they're all about gods!

Anyone read the nome trilogy, or Bromiliad, Truckers, Diggers and Wings?

My first book to read of his was "Men At Arms", it's good but hard to read when you're only 10!
I'd recomend the Guard series, it starts with "Guards? Guards!" and ends with "Night Watch"

Actually I think "The Colour of Magic" & "The Light Fantastic" would be the ones you'd want to read first, since they're basically the intro to Discworld. (and the Rincewind series just rocks)

I've never read a terry pratchet book but maybe I will give it a try. If you are fans of fantasy you should try the Earthsea books by Ursula K. LeGuin. They are not very long but the story is beautifully crafted with honesty and a sense of almost silent morality. A wizard of Earthsea is the first and truly a great book.

Fantasy books are boring. They are only good if they have comedy in them, such as Terry Pratchetts. At school at the moment I am reading 'Only You Can Save Mankind' which is my first of his that isn't of Discworld.
My favourite Discworld would be either 'The Truth' or 'Thief of Time'.
But books bore me now.

on the subject of fantasy books I'd recomend the first dune book "dune", which is a blend of Fantasy and Sci-fi. I'm reading the second book in the series, and it is excellent so far.

the dune books are by far the greatest sci fi novels ever written. The mixing of ecology, philosophy and politics into a messianic story are completely brilliant. By the way the series changes a lot once you get to god emperor of dune. enjoy and try to read them all. If you are able to look past the absence of the characters you have already grown to love then you wont be disappointed.

Actualy, the real intro would be"Strata" a book based on the idea that a discworld is ridiculous. It's good but a little hard to understand as it's futureistic.

As for the Rincewind seires, I haven't read it yet. That's going to be my next task.

BTW: Anyone here signed up for the Wizards Knob? (yes, this isn't a joke)
