they do have noses, on top of their heads like gabbits, you just cant see the nostrils, look at the mudokon skull design Picture (too lazy to post it) you see the nostril on their forehead

Maybe the holes are really teeny.

See, I always thought they were mouth breathers.

The name would sound better if you made it "Why don't mudokons have a nose?"

There's no real reason to it. That Farzad guy or whoever did the character designs just wanted them to look original.

Character design actually has a lot to do with the nose. Someone could go through countless nose designs to get the character looking just right. Features also depend a lot on someones personality. The shape of the face shows us what the creator wants us to see the type of personality they're looking for. Take "Lord of the Rings" for example. The character "Gollum" went through a lot of work, because people had become attached to the him in the book. He had to look good. They had the face down, but the nose was bugging Peter Jackson. They changed the nose from Zombie-like holes, to more of a regular nose that wasn't as alien looking. Art has a lot to do with character design.

There seems to be a "Noseless" trend here.
Glukkons, Vykkers, Interns, Scrabs, paramites, and other creatures seem to be nostral-impared. Also, I saw an eyeless trend in most of AO's wildlife.

Happy

Oddworld creatures probably have other senses than ours. I'm to lazy to type my ideas so I'll let you share your theories.

well seeing hoe none of them have noses rules out the smelling us idea....also i beleive paramites scrabs sense are movements, vibrations, and hear us. besides if you lived in a place like rupture farms or vykkers labs you wouldnt really want a nose.

I agree with the slinger of sligs! We have to get our minds out of the box and realize this is another world built upon different principals than we are used to. Who cares if Scrabs don't have eyes...there's other senses involved that we aren't even aware of. I did visit this place called Mammoth Caves when I used to live in the tri-state area, and this cave had fish that didn't have eyes. The guide shinned his flashlight on these fish, and they were pure white...almost transparent. It was so dark in this cave, that these fish evolved into having no eyes since they didn't need them. Scrabs must have incredible senses so they didn't need their eyes and must have evolved without them...that is to say if Scrabs even had eyes in the first place.

Scrabs: use echolocation, aswell as teriffic hearing when they hear something or detect something other than a scrab they roar sending signals to the others. notice how in MO when you walk close enough to a scrab herd to hear you, they all turn and face you, it's like "hey i heard something right there"

Paramites: most likely sense vibrations being so close to the ground like Max stated, but also someone had said the beleived they saw parmite eyes in the gamespeak CG model.

Gluk noses

If you look real close, you can see a pair of holes near the inner corners of the gluks' eyes. It's most noticable when you look at Dripik in gamespeak in AE.
I also see it in Mollucks closeup. Phleg's is less noticable but it's there.
Some of them it seems to be hidden in the folds near the eyes...

Steef seems to follow a similar formula...

Funny, I just said that. (EDIT: No wait, it was in the topic which has exactly the same subject as this one.)

I think he was trying to imply that they might be nostrils. They're in a similar place to where Mudokon and Gabbit nostrils are. Wouldn't I be right in think it's a very bird-like place for nostrils to be? I can't say I've ever heard of birds smelling.

Just because they don't have bulbous lumps of cartilage on the front of their faces, doesn't mean they don't have nostrils, or 'smelling organs' on the outside of their body.
