for one thing how many moons does this planet have? Also I think the moons are mystical representations of the planets heros who will save the planet from the tyranny of the industrialists. Unless we have a slig hero there pobably won't be a slig moon

well i dont think there are heroes involved just a prophecy, anyway i'm sure a slig has a moon but its probly over their continent if they have one.... in the stockyards of AO you can see a minimum of 6 moons in the background.

I'm feel so guilty saying this, but sometimes OWI changes their background stories. They can just add things without explaining it. But no game is perfect. I still love Oddworld!

why do you feel guilty, we all love oddworld more than a game, but it's still just a game..... a very creative and good one i might add, and i know what you mean, Lorne thought we wouldnt notice the backdrop being so tied up in the actual gameplay.

Just because you saw the moon up close doesn't mean that it doesn't have a print. It could have been on the other side.

I just mean, I thought the first story behind the moon was awesome. How mudokons were the rulers of the land, since ther hand was on the moon. And how gluks wanted te be rulers, so they tried to change their hands, and that's how they got into experimenting and food products. Now we have a boring story. A meteor shower hits the moon. Can I just tell you how not exciting the second story is? It's like, if they have allready attached us to the first story, then why change it? That really burns my biscuts! Oh, well, that was my rant of the day. I thing at least one rant a day is healthy.

the fact is:
each hero of the quintology will have his own moon, thus only 5 printed moons and not 6
Steef isn't a hero of the quintology so he won't have a moon

Yes, each hero of the Quintology will have his or her own moon, but Oddworld has many more moons than just those 5. Lorne's altering the backstory of the moon was highly bizarre, especially because of two hard facts that contradict each other. Lorne said in an interview that the Mudokon paw print would never be explained, and yet Abe Babe and Pilot insist that the meteor strike was part of some CGI film. I don't know - I prefer the first official explanation, so that's what I'm sticking with.

Re: Sligs. Lorne said we would see 'good' Sligs and Glukkons, but I'm not sure whether they'd actually be a hero.

And Paramud, this probably should have been asked in the Oddworld Q&A.

A moon is a moon. The old theory still exist like before. Its just that a lot of people wanted to know how that happened so Lorne quickly gave us an answer. I meteor shower carved out those prints. Thats scientifically but for the inhabitants they still view the world around them to be mystical that their gods made those prints. This actually goes to that idea about the inhabitants of Oddworld. Like Oddworld is so big that some inhabitants take a real long time to be advance in culture. The industrial world doesn't believe in the natural religion where as the natural world does still believe in that ancient mumbo jumbo. Basically what it comes down to is what each culture of Oddworld believes. It might not of happened in the religious aspect but the Inhabitants who do believe don't know that.

Except that Lorne's explanation says that the meteor strike happened as Abe was escaping RuptureFarms, not millennia ago as was previously the case.

If I remember correctly, there was a huge misunderstanding with what was said on this subject. If I also remember correctly, the old explanation still stands. The meteors struck ages ago. One of the main themes Oddworld has tried to pass on was fate, and it was Abe's fate to be a hero.

Although, only Abe Babe can confirm this.

Even if he did change the story a bit meteors hitting a moon and making the exact impression of a mudokon paw and then a gabbit foot speaks pretty clearly of the fantastical. It is obvious that any way you look at it fate stepped in to show its hero.

1. Oddguy likes the first theory. You're talking about the second.

2. And the second theory doesn't actually mention Godd. In fact, there is no mention at all of 'Godd' in the Oddworld Unvierse. There is however an old Oddworld fan who used the screen name 'Godd', but I doubt you're talking about him.

3. Just for the record, I don't agree. While Oddworld is obviously a very spiritual place, I don't think that any sort of all-powerful being should be used. Shrykull is okay, since it's only a godling - just the Mudokons' version of hell on earth (or rather, Oddworld). Great Mother Odd is okay, too, since the name is more akin to 'thanking god' for something happening than actually thanking God for something happening, if you see what I mean. It's more of an exclamation than a belief.

I used once "Godd" in a theory that was on Oddworldian
(but the site is down now )
It was about the queens on Oddworld, but it was only a little story to try to explain how life/queens came on Oddworld

but it was pretty stupid

I like the idea of "fate", rather puting Godd into the game. Having it unknown makes it more mystical.
