more eco-friendly because of oddworld?

I know loads of people love the oddworld games, me included ( i've been a fan since i played on the demo A.0 that came with some ps mag) but how many of you do actually recycle? or eat from big food chains that help to contribute to the destrution of the rainforests around the world (yes thats right Ronald i'm talking to you) the very corporations oddworld are trying to make us aware of! (Maybe Molluck should return wearing a huge red wig and nose)

I was just intrested to know how many peope on this board started recycling, and supporting charities such as WWF to try and save aniamls and their habitats that have been around much longer than we have but in less than 100 years humans have managed to use up a hell of a lot of the earth's natural resources.

I live in the uk and things are improving of here even though still isn't enough being done, but i read articles of what the Bush administration is doing and i am horrified( i just signed a petition to stop the Artic Refuge from being taken over by big oil companies)

I'm sorry the big rant, and i'm not an hippy, i'm just an 18 year art student, who has gotten great inspiration from Oddworld.

I while back I tried getting really into being a very Earth-friendly person, although I definitely wouldn't say it was because of Oddworld. True, Oddworld brought my attention to them, but I know I would have found out anyway. I refuse to eat in a chain of any fast food franchise, and I don't allow my parents to buy petrol at Esso (although they're not under my control ALL the time). But beyond that, my little expenditure ending with me not being able to be bothered to go vegetarian. I always recycle paper, since the local council has provided that service for a long time. Glass too.

I know it must sound a bit callous, but I might try giving the whole thing another try, but right now I'm wrapped up in education, the intricacies of teenage social life, efforts at self-improvement, and just lately I restarted working on my Oddworld website. I'll probably get bombarded with hate mail from everyone who learns I actually stopped work for a period, but nevermind.

There's nothing wrong with being a hippy. And as for your rant, it's one of the best topics on OWF I've seen in at least a couple of months.

I wasn't. I think the message they portray is good but only younger people will actually listen. In the end we need Capitalism to survive so saying its bad is really like saying "Dont eat meat because its animals" which is a bad thing to say to someone who's young cos when your young you need the Protein.

But no, never really affected me...i just played the games...

The plural form ends with a 'z', not an 's', but otherwise fine. If I were you I'd be more embarrassed about misspelling 'spelled'.

Yes, we're all Khanzumerz really, our lives depend on the products and services of companies and corporations, and sometimes they feel that they can get away with anything. And sometimes they do. If I can just step slightly off-topic (I'm sure you won't mind), I'm definitely against materialism and commercialisation. Obviously our culture is based on commerce, and I'm not at all suggesting we all stop being captivated by something on the market every now and then, but it really sickens me the way holidays are converted into, and even created as, selling points. I hate watching children's adverts because now that I'm older and wiser I can see clearly how it's preying off of them. Accident claim policies, I hate them too - "If you've had an accident that isn't your fault, sue someone who's fault it wasn't really either!". Again, I don't know if it's Oddworld that made these views for me, and I don't really like to think that my opinions are actually shaped by anything other than my own judgement, but I'm positive that growing up with Oddworld over the last few impressionable years has helped make me aware of all the nastiness around us, and for that I'm really grateful.

I'm not saying that peolpe shouldn't eat meat just because it comes from an animal, people do need protein ( animals eat other animals) but its the mass slaughter and waste that annoys me, it's as if people take everything for granted! Humans believe that we own the world, when we should be learning to co-exist (God Damn Hippy),
"forming a natural equilibrium" Agent Smith

Yeh Max, thats the exactly the point oddworld made me aware that stuff like that was going on, i think i was 12 when i first played Abe and it was just so original and different. It could just be a teenage thing!

Those claims adverts are funny as hell, "Mrs Jones went into her office and fell off her chair, see claimed £10,000"

"What!" Irwin

Oddworld totally changed me! I suddenly realized the hell we put the African Americans through and the Indians through way back before the Civil War. I had made the connection between Mudokon slaves and Tainos or African American slaves.

I am also tons more earth friendly. I realized how much corporations have screwed up everything for the wildlife and ourselves. We will soon run out of resources and kill off all the animals and plants which are the good, peaceful ones.

I now view humans as Glukkons, we are no better and need to change.

And I use the word "Chump"

Your probably right about the fact that young people will only listen. I don't know how old the people on this message board are, but it would be good to hear from people who are older.

I'm a teenager (or young adult) and oddwolrd influnced me in my art mostly but it made me look at the way I lived my life (and no i didn't start wearing a loincloth) and i thank oddworld for that
