Question What's your place like?

I'm interested about other countries. If you can, you can post photos or anything about your home or country.

Ah--

--the sweet Finland! ...might be a bit cold at winter... but the summer is soooo great!! Green stuff everywhere! You know, grass, flowers and stuff... the blue sky and the white clouds... the clean, crystal waters...

Anyway, take this link to read more about Finnish culture!!

Some sayings...
A new day shows a new way
Time goes on while life runs out
He who lies thrice believes he's told the truth
The child led by the hand never learns to walk
Even a poor man owns the sun and the stars
Everything is beautiful once the eye likes the view
A man without a wife is like a field without a fence
He who asks won't lose his way
An honest man would rather sell his land than tell a lie

"Jos ei heilaa helluntaina, niin ei koko kesänä"
If you don't have a sweetheart by Whitsun you will stay without one the whole summer

...and in Winter ^____^

And for last...
How do I recognize a Finn?

Wow It looks like you live in the Mountains Red Muse.

Well here is what I have to say about my place:

I live in the State of Ohio North Eastern Ohio that is. About 1 hour away from Cleveland and Lake Erie in a suberb of Akron Ohio.

There is a lot of interesting things to do around where I live. I usually get really warm and hot summers, wet springs, Cool Falls, and frigid winters. Infact Ohio winters are ferocious. This past winter we had over 5 ft of snow. North Eastern Ohio winters are horriable for driveing but awesome for skiing. There are a lot of State parks in the area and I live in a pretty wooded and rolling hills type of area. But mostly its the suberbian and city life where I live. Here are some nice pictures of Cleveland at night and Lake Erie. Mainly I live in the Great Lakes region of the United States.

Dead Sydney (well, in a suburb around Sydney) on the Eastern Coast of Australia

Well, I'm from Sydney (well not technically Sydney, actually a suburb around the Sydney area). No need to tell you where that is (we hosted the 2000 Olympic Games) but just in case, it's in NSW which is the most heavily populated state in Australia (and it's south of QLD and north of VIC). The population I remember is around 18 million people. We don't have large temperature variations here. Most of the year, the temperature is pretty warm. Get around 1200mm of rain a year, spaced out throughout the year.

Australia is a pretty cool place. Lots of places you could go (kangaroo Island, Fraser Island, Uluru/Ayers Rock, Jenolan Caves, Kakadu National Park etc. ). Or if your in Sydney, there's the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Centre Point Tower(the 7th tallest building in the world ).

Now to some pics...

I'd have a nice view of Sydney Centre Point Tower and the Sydney Harbour bridge if it weren't for a tree.

If the picture doesn't work, just copy and paste the url.

Here's a photo I took in the local park (Ashfield Park).

Here's another I took of the opera house. It's got several different theatre area things. The main one has these glass orb things hanging from the ceiling.

Its actually alright. Where I live its normallysunny in the summer ad freezing in the winter. Best of both words. Its very green and quiet. Apart from when you start yelling your head off. In spring it gets very pink (yuck!) and in winter it gets very white. And in summer and autumn it gets very middle-iee. And it can rain alot.

My place is okay, It's in the US which is kinda boring, everyone lives there nowadays. Not much to say. It's a medium sized house with three floors cause it's on a slant. You come in through the lil hall thingy with da closet, and your on the floor with the kitchen and the living room. Upstairs is the bathroom, and three bedrooms, then going down, thers the family room, in which ione of the walls is a big sliding glass door. Then down in the basement which reaks of poo, is all the boring stuff, and the other half is my room. I'd give yahs pictures but I got in trouble last time for trying to sneak one in and got grounded.

Sorry if my last post was a bit like geography lesson. Here's more of Hungary:

Hungary is in the middle of Europe, so many travellers from abroad stop here to rest before they continue travelling. Hungary has no coast line, but it has a small sea 'inside' the country called Lake Balaton. It's a bit crowded at summer, but it's a good place.

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is 'sliced' to 2 parts by the river Danube. There are some bridges over it. Earlier, Buda and Pest were two cities, but they are one now.

Here are some pictures:

Those are some nice buildings in those photographs you have there Dripik. For some reason I just love the old cathedral styal buildings in Europe. And I have to say that I have visted several in the Country of Spain. Its just amazeing how these places were built.

Yea my town which is a suberb of Akron called Stow sucks like crazy. Mann I want to go places in this world like California or Florida and live there. Believe me if you lived where I lived you would feel the same way.

Where I live is okay. I live in a place somewhere around Philly. At one time we lived in Bethlehem and me and my friends used to hang out in the old steel work ruins. It's kinda weird because all the old equipment and stuff is still there, adn you try to imagine what this place was like before, when it wasn't all mangled and rusted, but when it was a big thriving company full of people. Lol, one time we even met a hobo there, he threw a shoe at us! (no, not the hobo on the forums, but maybe he knows him!)

My town sucks. They call it the 'hidden treasure of california'...But that's just a lame tourist gimmick.

Inbreeding was common here when our town was new, and continued on for quite some time. We're like the arkansas of california.

Heh.

It's still common to find families that are the result of generations of inbreeding, sadly. We have the 5th worst air quality out of all california. and our neighboring big city [ fresno ] has second place.

Our town is rural, and was founded by farmers way back when. But now, it's suburbia hell. We also have the highest teen pregnancy rate in california, and are the meth capitol of the america. The FBI has been here for 7 years now, busting meth labs on a daily basis.

Gangs run rampant, and murders/severe beatings are fairly common.

People here are all close minded, simplistic fools.

I hate my town.

They say it used to be a nice place to grow up, but it's really gone to hell. I've been shot at once, and mugged many a time.

I actually cary a 6" switchblade on me for protection now.

I live in Knoxville, TN. It's an OK place to live... but there isn't much to do in spite of all stupid crap we have.

All the kiddies here are either jocks, red necks, emo heads, or juggalos[sp]... it's nice to be unique... in a relative sense, at least.

Here's a pic from the mountain area around Knoxville:

EDIT: Ack, sorry. The pic is a lot bigger than I thought it would be... hope it doesn't take too long to load for you guys.

It's not that my town is THAT terrible...it's just that there are a lot of 'bad people' and the town is so small they don't really have anywhere to go.

The shooting happened as I was walking around town. They didn't even come close.

I would never stab anyone with my knife. It's just a bluff.
