Oddworld Archived information on the forums!

You know I have been noticeing even with myself that topics of old are no longer accepted. I should talk really!

Well if that is the case why don't we simply get rid of those two year old topics? Why do we keep them archived? If you don't like people bringing them back to the first page then get rid of them simply.

And I am guilty too for bringing back old topics I did so already today cuz I had nothing else to do. But my point is why keep them if you consider them to be spam? Not all of them are spamful. I mean there is a host of old topics that had great discussions in them. But they died and slipped awey into the pages. For me I like to revive old good topics and kind of rekindle the fire they once had. Even if it was two years old. The issues still exist today as it did two years ago. Now the issues are even worse.

My point is to my fellow formers how many old topics have you brought back from the dead that you read and thought were cool topics? Its alright be honest with your selves we all did that one time or another. All I am saying is why don't we just delete all of the real old ones if we don't want to see them anymore? That will take care of the problem.

I'd actually prefer for someone to start a new thread on the whatever it is is they want to re-discuss, and if necessary, link to the old thread for reference. Usually no one will remember threads from even 6 months back, and even if they do, I think it's okay to talk about something which has already been talked about, as situations change and new people are now here. Plus if an old thread is bought up, someone might avoid responding to it, as they realize by viewing it that they already had their say there. But on the other hand, if a new thread is started on the subject, the person may be more inclined to talk about the subject again.

Although sometimes there are times when bringing up an old thread is more appropriate ... such as the Picture thread which is very old. However, it's difficult to determine which is appropriate and which is not.

On deleting, I'm very against that, as I don't like to see OWF history deleted. And I like keeping stuff.

Abe Babe...

Yea now that you mentioned it that way, thats sounds pretty resonable.

Its good we don't delete anymore. Sometimes I think deleteing would be good if it was for only spam threads but we close them so its doesnt do any harm. And your right about the history in the forums.

After all it is history that us veterans were apart of. That is a very important point you have there Abe Babe.
