Abe's Oddysee Scrabanian Temple

Hi. You know the room in the scrabanian temple that has several doors, each with rooms behind them that have a flint lock to be lit and bells to be rung? Well, i'm in the top door on the right hand side. It's the one where you go a few screens to the right and then jump in a well, and then you have to wait for a scrab to move to the right, then you light the flintlock, and then run left and roll under a rock and drop back down - landing on the platform where the well is.

I've completed this game before but i'm really stuck. I looked at some walkthroughs and they all say that after dropping back down onto the platform where the well is, i should wait for the scrab to walk away and then jump on the elevator. My problem is that THERE IS NO ELEVATOR ON THIS SCREEN! The scrab is present, the well is present, but there's no sign of an elevator. There is an arrow painted on the wall pointing upward which leads me to believe that there should indeed be an elevator here.

I've re-loaded the game a few times and stuff like that, so i don't think it's a case of the elevator graphic not loading up....

...erm, any ideas?

OK, when you start this part... Is the Scrab already here?
If not, you have to get the elevator down first... Look for falling rubble or something... It has been a long time since I played AO, so I may be wrong... I suggest you try to find the elevator befor you get the bellsong or the flintlock activated...

Yeah, the Scrab is already there, it is standing next to the well. It jumps down and gives chase.

If the elevator is up/down somewhere else, i don't think i'll be able to find it, 'cos none of the other screens i visit show any signs of an elevator.

I have taken a screenshot of the room i'm in that's supposed to contain a lift. I don't have any web-space to upload it to though, sorry.

And there ain't no debris falling in this part of the temple??? I mean, you have got to get up there. Or maybe a lever??

I'll try to describe the screen i'm on.

You enter from the left. In front of you is a hole (no falling debris, you die if you jump down), and on the right hand side is a ledge with a well on it, and a Scrab. You get rid of the scrab by running straight at the ledge and grabbing. It runs at you and falls off, then you pull yourlself up onto the ledge and jump in the well.

When you land, you run two screens to the right, and you come to a room where there's a Scrab pacing up and down the room..You are on a ledge above the Scrab, in front of a flintlock lever. When you pull the lever you are dropped down onto the floor with the scrab, so you run left and then roll under this rock so he can't get you. Then you roll a little further and drop out back into the room with the well and the Scrab.

This is where the walkthroughs say "Now wait for the Scrab to move to the right, and take the elevator up"

Hey, sorry for the bad news but, after reading this thread i went on the game and went to the part that you're describing, and where you say there is no lift, on my game there is a lift.

I don't know what you're gonna do about this situation.

Hahaha, ohhhhh dear.

Maybe i should try reinstalling the game (keeping the save files of course)...

Or maybe the lift is up at the top, rather than down there with me. In that case i'll have to look around, maybe theres something i need to do to trigger it...

You said you finished that before? I know that prob, it happend to me too.

If I'm correct, you finished the level by taking the elevator up. But you'd forget the flint clock. Once the lift is up, it will stay up. Even if you re-enter the hub. Your answer is:

Open a previously saved game (BEFORE the lift-accident).
Avoid the scrab, find a way up to the flint clock.
Take the lift up.
Go through the door.
Finish the game.

It should work. However, I didn't played it for a long time. Somethings might be incorrect (except for the lift-thing). Believe me, I have a good memory.

So if i start off at an earlier point and work my way there, the lift should be there? That's great, thanks a lot mate

(BTW i know where the flintlock is. I've tried it *with* pulling the flintlock lever and *without* pulling it)
