Oddworld The Gabbit Colony

Chapter One

Munch swam through the shallow ocean for a long time, and he was tired… but he kept on, The Last Can of Gabbiar in his hands. Long strands of kelp-like plants floated up to the surface of the water, but he did not bother with them. Someday, he’d have to feed this to the hundred and fifty Gabbiwogs he would raise!

It had been eight days since the destruction of Vykker’s Labs, and since then Munch had thought a lot about these Gabbit Eggs. He didn’t know how to make eggs grow into Gabbits! Let alone Gabbiwogs! He had been a fisherman of his School of Gabbits, not an Egg Hatcher! But he kept on; he just had to keep the race of Gabbits alive!

The ocean he was in was called the Rose Sea, a large body of shallow water in the Paramonia Forest. The Mudokons had established a village near the Rose Sea, in hopes that someday the Gabbits and Mudokons would grow together as one race.

The industrials had enough problems with Vykker’s Labs destroyed, so saving the Mudokon race was secondary as of now. It would have to wait. It would be a long time before they would start another raid against the Industrials.

Finally, he had found a change of the terrain in the oceanic sand. The land sloped upward, to form an island. But Munch wasn’t concerned on top of the island; he was concerned of the cave that went under it. The Egg Hatchers had always grown the eggs in caves in his School, so would he! He swam through the cave into the home he had scouted out.

The cave was spacious and a good place to raise Gabbiwogs, and it provided shelter against the current. The rose kelp was plentiful there in the cave; it would provide enough food for the Gabbiwogs. But, as Munch gripped the Last Can of Gabbiar in his hands, he realized something…

The Can Opener was gone!

He had left the precious tool right there, on a cave ledge… he had spent many months with Abe to find that Can Opener. Through the Deserts of the Scrab, the Vaults of Mudos, until finally he had stolen one from the Glukkon Queen on a very dangerous espionage mission.

Where was it! Had a sea creature stolen it? Setting the Can of Gabbiar on the ledge, he investigated the surrounding sands. Then, a sea-shattering roar interrupted Munch’s Search…

I realize that you people don't like long strings of text. I get one reply after a long time, yet some writers get replies after a day, and they post little more than a paragraph.

Do you want me to write in shorter, more compact chapters? Such as Shadestorm does?

What is wrong with my story?

Chapter Two

Munch darted to and fro, wondering what to do! What was this roar! What monster inhabited the Rose Sea that Munch had not heard of? He would be safe in the cave if the monster were gigantic, like a Sea Rex. But what if it was a Berat Eel that had roared in such a way? They could easily fit inside the cave and eat him AND the Gabbit Eggs.

Luckily, the Mudokons had given him something for self-defense. With the Can of Gabbiar in his hands, he swam through a certain tunnel in his cave. He had memorized the directions, and found his way through a myriad of tunnels to a certain underwater cavern.

The cavern was called “The Armory” for a good reason. Here he had a large stock of packaged ZAP, Expresso, Sobe Drink and Aqua Jump. Munch looked at his options. The ZAP would shock himself and the monster, as he was underwater. The Expresso would speed him up, and the Aqua Jump also might come in handy.

He had to get to the Mudokon Village to get some weapons. It was stupid of him to come to the Rose Sea without any defenses, other than a few drinks. He slugged down three cans of Expresso and Aqua Jump and got ready for the long journey ahead of him to the Mudokon Village.

Munch buried the Gabbiar in the Armory and left the cave, heading for the Mudokon Village. He heard the roar once more, closer this time, and prepared for the worse.
