Next Oddworld info in EGM-not a joke

Just thought I'd set the record straight--the info about the next Oddworld game in the Feb. issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly isn't "an early April Fool's Joke". We only put those in April's issues.

It seems very far-fetched to me, where did you get your information from? And as far as I know Oddworld wasn't at last years E3, as MO had been released only a few months before.

I'm very skeptic when it comes to Oddworld information, especially when it is probably rumour and there ain't anything to back it up.

Well, I'm not usually "with" it but it sounds too wacky. Too silly(as in stupid-funny) for me to take it seriously.

It just sounds like a rumour that somehow made it's way onto the internet... well, many rumours do wind up on the internet.

If anyone would know first, it's OWI.

But then again, who knows?

I think the reaction of some people are to hard (as usual) what EGM told is possible and it is logic some people believe it, please don't be so sure it is a joke

but anyway OWI went to E3 last year, but they didn't showed anything, they just were relaxing

so it is still possible

I agree with Xav, after all it is.........Oddworld, so you never know. And from what I know some of the facts in that artical do size up to where the game left off.

Only time will tell- I remember the rumor about Vykkers being four armed, no legged beings that sat in chairs hanging from the ceiling. way back in the old GT board days.

Im not believing anything of rumors or anything until I hear it straight from the horses mouth.(OWI) Especially since a reliable source could have been the Official Playstation Magazine. This is why I avoid the rumors of people, and tend to try and avoid peoples speculation, unless it makes sense. I have seen no proof of that this is what it is about, besides the EGM thing which was a joke. OWI would tell us first or say it on their website. I feel someone just wants to act cool trying to say it is true. Where is this source of yours or was that made up.....Im sorry if I come across a bit mean here in this thread. But I frankly will not believe it until I see it or have enough proof, or word of confirmation from Oddworld Inhabitants. Thankyou for your time of listening to what I have to say.

It's just the sort of thing oddworld would do and of course they will make it sound stupid at first so we will be even more impresses when we see the real thing.

As do I. Although I find it strange that he/she only posted in this topic. And that his homepage is the EGM magazine website. I just want official confirmation from OWI. Just to make sure what was said was true. If they say it is then I'm ok finally we will have confirmation. Anyone here can have their own opinion. And whatever that is I respect it. I liked especially how Khanz sort of theorized along with some others like oddsville and Xav on how it could go along right after MO, and how it could fit in with the Quintology. Instead of just some whacked out rumor that doesnt make sense when you look at it by itself. But instead transporting gabbit eggs up the river. I really like that theory. Because it would make sense with the overall storyline thus far, just a bit different in a few small areas. Once we get more information on the story however I think it will be less hectic to make sense out of everything, because then its handed to us on a platter. And we know what to expect wheter we'll be happy, mad, sad. And then make a final decision when we play the game for ourself.

i hope they dont bring a half monkey centaur thing as they sound like creatures from earth and all the species we've seen on oddworld have been unique. no doubt its probably a rumour anyay as owi are producing all future games for the xbox and theres been no news in the officialxbox magazine. besides i think owi arent going to tell anyone what the new game is going to be like for a long time so i dont see why they would just spread a rumour like that about.

well I don't remember who pointed that out but it can be simply a realy strange character and the monkey/horse thing was the best way to describe it with a few words.

Why would oddwolrd make a game basoed on moving thingsback and fourth over the river? That's just stupid! That would be a small endless game with millions of levels!

No, not Oddworld. My love for the paramite forrest in AO is so great that the mind waves makes Oddworld not do it!

In games, I hate water. Unless the creaters have put down lot's of time making the water good. Like the new Zelda game, is sailing from island to island in Hyrule...

But I don't want to have a boat move everytime I do...

Then again, few peaple have Xbox, so the game wont be played anyway...

it isn't because you don't have an Xbox that other people don't, the Xbox solds are pretty good... and MO is number 8 in the 10 most getted games for Xbox

MO was also ranked 8.0. And in EGM, Halo Got the platinum editor award, 10.0, game of the month, game of the year 2001. And Munches Oddysee still got 9.0 Gold choice editor award. And got solid 9.0 reviews last year. To me. MO is still in my high regards. It was a great first time in the 3d. And the game was still very very good. I like all of the oddworld games thus far. And I think we will probably be pleased with the final product of OW4.

I don't know if it is true or not, as everything was top secret when I was at OWI last year, so I didn't get to see anything new. (Just in case people try to ask me if I know or something, I don't!). But keeping a very open mind, we all need to remember what it says on the official site in the updated FAQs.

We are currently not in production on those titles at this time. Oddworld is presently working on a title that is concurrent with the evolution of the Quintology, but unique from our previous games. So even though it is unlike anything we've released so far, we think you'll agree it couldn't have come from anyone but Oddworld.

Now it doesn't sound too far fetched at all. And I think thray-walsh is referring to this year's e3 in his post, not last years. Although I would wait until we hear a more "offical" view on this before believing or denying otherwise.

While certains parts may be actually correct, as in bending the truth to make us more suspicious I think there is the slight possiblity.

However, OWI doesn't neccessarily have to give us the information first. They could give it to some Magazine or Websitesite from which we get the information.

However, seeing as it was back at E3 2002, I find it unlikely for it to still be the same ideas/concepts at this point in time.

I really wouldn't be surprised if it was true. I mean, I thought those Spoocey shrubby thingies were a joke, but behold, they were in MO.

I remember saying to myself... "Collecting shrubs?! Ha! That would just make MO another platform game, like every other one out there! Ha! I laugh more!". And well, I guess I got a big kick in the pants.

Well personally I don't think the idea sounds too farfetched, if you look at the map you see that at the end of MO they stopped right at a river. I know its not much but hey, you never know. So I say bring on the (as Khanz would say it "Oddworld: HorseMonkey and Boats Oddysee" or just HMBO...yeah) next game!!

As far as I understand it, OWI wouldn't be so stupid as letting a Horse-Monkey on the set of characters, but then again, It does say on the back of the Oddworld : Munch's Oddysee manual,

Monkey-Horses??!! OWI think of their own creatures, not adding two together from the world of Humans! Who could think that this is no hoax?! Its not their style to make a Horse-Monkey. But wait, some one could've heard a rejected idea, very rare though.
