Happy A Tale of Two Tribes

Once upon an odd time in an odd world far away there lived a tribe of Mudokuns. The tribe was lead by their hero and savior, Abe. Abe was usually cool to confront problems. He had set free 399 Mudokuns that were working as slaves in Rupture Farms.

The tribe had built themselves a nice little village in the green forest that laid just south of where Rupture Farms had been long ago. The tribe got so old that they thought they would never again see a Slig or Glukkon or any of that bad stuff.

As time went on the great leader from before, Abe, had died off and left his son, Gabe, to lead the tribe. He had learned a lot from his father. About the land. About Rupture Farms and SoulStorm Brewery. Then, one day, a shortage of food came about where the village had lived. Gabe, being the natural-born leader, announced they would be moving to another locaton with more food and space to roam. The little tribe packed their belongings and set off, even farther south.

Days and days passed as the tribe moved. Atop his Elum, Gabe had spotted raising smoke from afar which looked like it was coming out of the top of the trees off in the distance. As the tribe neared closer, they came to a large gate made of tall pieces of bamboo. Two gaurd posts sat on the top. Gabe dismounted as the small tribe gathered around."Our supplies are low," he had said to them all, "so we're going to restock in this village."

Some were hesitant. They didn't know who, or what, lived in the village. One spoke up as Gabe started for the front gate. "Wait! Do we even know who lives in this village?" The young one asked Gabe.

Gabe thought for a minute and shook his head slowly, shrugging his shoulder. "We'll just have to find out." The fearless leader called to his fellow Mudokuns.

Just ask Gabe knocked on the door, two things popped up from behind the guard-house's walls. Things with red eyes. Things with green skin and rough voices the others had not heard before. One of them spoke. "Who goes there?"

Gabe was startled at first, but he looked to the one who had called down to them. He hadn't seen these creatures before, but they looked awfully familiar. "My name is Gabe. My tribe is suffering from low food. Our supplies is almost gone. Please help us." Gabe said.

The creature called to the other gaurd. "All right. Let them through and tell the village elder of their arrival."

Gabe strode through the doors with the rest of his tribe to reveal and vast village with the same creatures roaming around. One was seen carrying a pile of sticks to place on the village's fire in the center, while little one without legs were chasing eachother about, laughing. Another was telling a group about his hunting trip, Gabe had overheard.

The tribe was brought into the center of the village in front of the fire. Other green-skinned, red-eyed, silver-legged beings gathered and gawked at the tribe. For they, too, have never seen creature like this before. The king came before them. "Welcome, strange travellers, to our humble village. I am King Glug." He said warmly.

"Hello King Glug," Gabe started, "my tribe and I are running low on supplies, and we need to re-stock. I am Gabe, son of Abe and we would appr-"

Gabe was cut off by the king. "Abe? I have heard that name before! My father's father told tales of one with blue skin who had shut down Rupture Farms and SoulStorm Brewery! Do you speak the truth?"

"Uh. Well, yes. I, but I mean, it-" Gabe hesitated.

The King looked to the one standing next to him and mummbled something to him, before looking back. His frown lifted and a sort of smile came upon him as the entire tribe called for all to hear: "Hail Gabe, son of our savior, Abe!"

Gabe didn't know what they were talking about. Later, he had found out that shutting down Rupture Farms and SoulStorm Brewery lead to the freedom of the Sligs as well.

From that day on the green-skinned creatures known as Sligs and the Mudokuns had joined together and lived as one. They had set aside their differances of what the Sligs had done to the Mudokuns and funtioned as a society. All lived happily and healthy from then on. It just goes to show that two very different kinds of people can indeed live in peace, regardless of their past.

The End

Post Tribe Member's Journal

These new people are very kind to us. The village is now at complete peace. Today I observed a Mudokun and a Slig help retreive sticks for the fire. Slig and Mudokun children could be seen playing tag through the woods as their mothers suddenly called them home for dinner. My hunting team has shown me they're main source of help. A strange being called Slog.

The Sligs have taught us many things they have found out from the nature. We have also taught them. The two Kings, Gabe and Glug, rule over this hand with a warm heart, and help all other tribes that are in need.

With these last few lines I tell that I am proud of our tribe and perhaps one day we shall expand and find new "brothers". Until then, I can only wish...us...the best of the future.

Oddworld ...what's next?

As for more on the two tribes, no. BUT I do have tons of Oddworld stories I've been itching to try out. This would be my, hopefully, first of many (depending on the reaction).

Bravo! A lovely story, and well told! You have a very savory narrative, Armed Slig, and I like that.
Please keep writing more stories. I liked this one very much!

Edit: I like your signature too. It's cute.
