Oddworld What was Oddworld like in Prehistoric times

What was Oddworld like in prehistoric times. Do you know what oddworld was like in prehistory. What type of creatures existed?. what was the land scape like. Or does anyone have suggestions about what they think it was like (i ask this questions because i study Paleontology BTW take the ultimate dino quiz in offtopic disscusion if you thinkyou got what it takes) But back to the subject i dont know about Oddworld prehistory so if anyone knows about it or has there ideas about what it was like i would like to hear it.

Maybe in prehistoric times on Oddworld the Almighty Raison was a baby. heh that would be funny to see this mini Almighty Raison. Also there were thousands of other creatures that existed. Much wierder ones than we see now. The creatures back then made the creatures now seem normal. I remember reading something about that a while back when I first read about the Almighty Raison. It said something that when the Almighty Raison lived through many lives and that there were creatures that made creatures now seem normal. There were even wierder races. And thousands of them that co existed. Its an interesting topic.

Not much is known about oddworld before the mudokon Advisor Age. We do know that mudokons evolved from birds and that in general, the evolutionary course is turning bird-like animals into more reptilian creatures (kind of oposite some evolutionists veiw of earth evolution). So in the past I can imaging all sorts of dinobirds. Perhaps scrabs once had wings and feathers, but gave them up for powerful legs and a long beak once it realized there was no prey in the air.

Sligs evolved from a sluglike species and the glukkons from an octupus like thing. Both originated from swamps and I believe they are closely related species. Many members of the octigi family have mouth-fingers similar to a sligs. I also think that paramites are a part of the same animal group.

In prehistoric times an early version of vykkers would be swinging throught the trees. They were canopy dwellers who liked hights. I think that the reason theyy removed their legs is because they used to by long legs used for climbing, which are not needed on the smooth floors of Vykkers Labs.

Vast amounts of sea creatures must have been swimming the seas and even more creatures would inhabit the sky. The now extinct guardians would be raoming the forests of what would eventually become necrum and herds meeches would still be alive.

I hope that helps give you an idea of what an early oddworld might have been like. And yeah, the Almighty Raisin was probably a baby... or more likely not even born yet, depending on how far back you want to go.

One last thought. A prehistoric oddworld would possibly have less moons. They might not have been trapped by the massive planets gravity.

Thank you Khanzumer. That gives me a better insite on what oddworld was like in prehistoric times. But i think there is still alot more to learn about Oddworlds prehistory. Were do Slurgs fit in. Is it possible that slurgs have been unchange since prehistory. Could sligs and paramites evole from slurgs. And what about the Gabbits what did they evolve from?

Well Slurgs are fairly simple animals so my guess is that there wasn't much change needed for their speices. There probably able to adapt to just about any climate and eat just about anything which leaves no reason for evolution.

Hmmm... as for Gabbits well they resemble earths frogs in a way, living in water, occasionaly going on land but having to go back to the water to lay eggs. They where probably some type of reptile on land but moved back to the water for certain reasons, or it could be the other way around?

Although slurgs are sluglike creatures, I don't think they are related to sligs. It is interesting that they live off of fleeches offal because fleeches were created at Vykkers Labs to be the perfect pet. Perhaps there were once wild fleeches which the Vykkers just altered (unsuccessfully) to become pets.

I also wonder what gabbits were like in prehistoric times. The oceans of oddworld would be huge and likely they are the home to many sorts of strange creatures. But so far the only ones we know of are gabbits, scoots (worryfish), sea rexes and possibly stangs. Hopefully we will delve deeper into the debths of oddworld's oceans. I want most of the levels in ME to be underwater, but I don't think that will happen.

Another thing to wonder is, assuming oddworld has the same main animal classifications as earth, why are their so few mammals. The only ones we have seen so far are meeps, fuzzles and bats.

that is true Khanzumer. We have seen a small amount of mammals. I wonder if there were lots of Mammals in the prehistoric times then there are now. Perhaps the mammals were forced to be the lower life then the sligs and glukkons and other creatures that are not mammals wich is the opposite view of how earth has its succesors. We mammals are dominant of earth. that may be the opposite of Oddworld

I think oddworld tries to do the exact opposite evolution of the earth.

Could a slurg evolve into a fuzzel? They both have that squeeking noise and both of them are pretty simple creatures. maybe?

yes the slurg is a Mullosck it has no similarities with the fuzzles other then the noise they make. A fuzzle is obviously a mammal. There is no blood relation.

Nice pic. you should try drawing muds with feathers not alot of feathers but maybe just saome like under there arms wre the wings ould fold. Remeber muds evolved from birds.

Great artwork Kleeng! I think that prehistoric mudokons had a less feathers but that was a neat idea. The small beak was good too.

I think that the prehistoric muds had feathery down on their heads, neck, shoulders and back. They would have more birdlike legs and smaller arms. Longer neck, small beak. They would look kind of like dorky ostriches in shape.

I highly doubt that a single meech, fleech or slurg has ever burrowed. I don't know of any burrowing creatures on oddworld.

Hmmm.......maybe so. i like the idea that meaches could be burrowers that makes sense if you look at the anatomy. But i could be wrong.

How does it make sense? To me, meeches look like giant flees. They have legs made for jumping, a wierd shelled back, and three beak-like jaws. I don't see what they would dig with. Wouldn't their spines get in the way too?

But maybe I'm wrong.

I'm not going to make any guesses because I'm pretty sure we will see meeches in a future oddworld game.

How do I know. Every time someone has asked Alf if there will be meeches in a future game he replies with a "Oddworld is a big place so you never know..." Once he even said that meeches weren't extinct completely. There are still some living on a preserve ran by a profit hungry glukkon.

So I think it is safe to say that we will see a live meech at some point in the quintology.
