My hard drive is about to die!!!
I was defragmenting Drive E yesterday, and I discovered 49 bad clusters at the end of it. This is apparently a sign that my hard drive is about to wear out.
Drive E and Drive C (my system drive) are both one hard drive togheter, just partitioned.
So if my hard drive dies, I won't be able to come back online until I get my £370 computer upgrade, which I should be getting soon. I have to upgrade my computer because it is too old and obselete, and therefore I cannot just buy a new hard drive for it - I have to upgrade the whole damn thing first.
What I cannot understand is that my 7 year old hard drive is still intact and in perfect working order, while this newer hard drive which I got second hand off of a friend is already wearing out. . .
Anyway, like I said, if it dies then I can't come online, so you might not see me for a day or two. . . Hopefully it won't die before I get my upgrade, though.
Upgrade:
2 GB Hard Drive ---> 150GB Hard drive = £200
Old case --> New case
233MHz Mother Board ---> 1.4 GHz Mother Board
32MB RAM ---> over 100MB RAM
All of above = £150
Somewhat broken 4X CD Drive ---> 50x CD Drive = £20
I'll be keeping my sound card, modem, monitor and other stuff.
