That Darn Rock Sack

Hey all. I just started playing Abe's Exoddus. I love it, but I'm really frustrated because I'm stuck at a certain part, MIP04C01, if it matters.
Anyway there's a rock sack hanging from the ceiling and when I hit it a rock comes out. The only problem is, that's the only rock that comes out. I can only get one, and then no matter how many times I hit it no more rocks come out. To get past the next few parts, you need at least 7 rocks. So what do I do? Is this supposed to happend or is it a glitch in my game?

I looked at a walkthrough, and it simply said "collect nine rocks and use them to destroy the mines." So obviously I need more than one. Help! I don't know what to do next and I'm stuck.

Question to clarify:

When you are trying to get another rock from the sack, do you have one on in hand already? You can only get a rock (from any) sack if you aren't holding any.

Haha you're right!!! I used you're advice, and you're right, that was my problem the whole time!! lol i'm pretty stupid, but i'll get used to this eventually.

Hey,
you know those things that open gate that you have to posses a slig and use his voice to get through? how do you get through those?

I tried repeating everything the machine said, but that didn't work, it just did it's evil laugh thing and wouldn't open the gate. I also tried saying the same thing at the same time, I even tried saying it before the machine said it!

So what do I do?
