Options time!

If you're choosing options this year, what level of education are you about to start and what subjects are you choosing?

I'm just about to start further education, my ASs to be precise.
I want to do:

• Maths,
  
• Further Maths,
  
• Physics and
  
• Psychology.
  

But I might not be able to do psychology because it's in the same option blocks as maths and further maths. There isn't any other subject I want to do instead of psychology and I won't not do maths or physics.

Physics and Psychology up here is for seniors. I'm taking psychology and UN society and it's soooo boring. Physics is not that bad. Are you taking and AP courses?

Yeah, take math for four years and science. Colleges love that

I'm taking:

physics (full year)

UN society( half-year, you take it if you don't want to do social studies)

Ap biology(full year, ap exam in may have to score a 3, 4 and 5)

Gym(duh, it's a requirement for graduation)

Economics(full year, boring)

Precalcus

English

Spanish (of course I do highly well in that class )

Psychology

They are college level courses. If you take them and pass the exams in may, you get college credit and your cost for college would decrease.

Collage and Sixth Form is free here but University cost lots of money.

I don't know if AS levels have an equivilant in America.

You're allowed to take Further Maths at AS-Level? Hmm, we can't choose it until A2, for some reason...

My original options were as follows:

• History
• Maths
• Physics
• Theatre Studies

However, I soon discovered that, for some reason, I was unable to work well with my Theatre Studies group, and also that the course was incredibly dull, so I decided to drop it, taking up instead:

• Biology

, which I am much better at, and I also like the group better. I think I was probably better off dropping Theatre Studies anyway, since it was the subject I did the worst in at GCSE (I got a B, whereas all of my other grades were As and A*s).

Next Year:

We are generally expected to drop one of our AS-Levels before A2, but I am going to attempt to carry on all 4. However, this might be a problem, as I also intend to do Further Maths, and I don't want to be snowed under with work...

I think I will probably drop Biology, so my final timetable will look like:

• Maths
• Further Maths
• Physics
• History

Although History would be the logical subject to drop, as it is the only non-sciency subject of my options, and it is now the one I am least good at, I want to carry it on, if only because I really like the class - we get along well, and manage to both get a lot of work done AND have a lot of fun, which is rare...

Basically, of all my subjects, I am fairly confindent that I am going to walk Maths and Physics, as they are so incredibly easy (as long as we get to not do Statistics next year). Biology is slightly harder, but not much. History is probably the hardest of the subjects I'm doing at the moment.

Basically, the worst I am going to do is walk away with 4 A2-Levels (including General Studies) and 1 AS-Level. The Best I could do is walk away with 6 A2-Levels and 1 AS-Level.

I find it hard, as I feel I have to live up to the example set by my friends Sian (who got 5 As at A2) and Tom (who got 5 As at AS, and is currently doing A2)...

Your school system is different then ours.

Actually, Ap biology is kinda tough and it's kinda easy because it's college level and you know more.

I wish I did'nt take Un society. You just sit there and read current events. I should of have done government......yeeelck!

I wanted to be a geneticist like Richard Dawkins, so I put my name down for Maths, Bio and Chem at A2 and Law and Psychology at AS. However, my interviewer at college (who didn't seem to know who Richard Dawkins was; I think she thought I meant Stephen Hawking) said I might be better off choosing more history- and English-orientated subjects. Science used to be my strong point but I'm starting to get better at humanities now, so I'm re-deciding.
I still want to do Law and Psychology, but I think I might do Classical Civilisation, Philosophy and Critical Thinking instead of maths and science.

I started University this year. The course is Bachelor of Design, the first year includes the compulsory subjects of Design Issues, Design Principles, Illustration, Photomedia and computers. I'll be able to major in any of these next year, but there are also a few others like animation and film. Design Issues is compulsory for all four years.

If I didn't choose design I would have studied biology, but I decided I enjoyed design more. But I love university. The other students are like-minded and the atmosphere is excellent. It's irritating being one of the youngest people though. Most of my friends are over 18, so can buy drinks and cigarettes from the bistro, whereas I still have to wait a while yet before I can buy them myself.

Anyway. I've chosen English and Mathematics so far.
I might choose geography and art as my other two subjects for Abitur.


I'm planning to study Computer Sciences / Media + Screen Design as soon as I get out of school, so maths is good. Sadly, I can't choose Computer Sciences for Abitur, as the teachers teaching it aren't qualified enough :(
Sometimes I really hate living 'at the end of the world'.

Since my last post in this topic, I have found out that I can either do
Physics, Maths and Further Maths
or
Physics, Maths and Psychology


And, on a slightly related note, I'll get a chance to put my Child Development GCSE to use and become a Trainee Assistant Childminder working for my mum. Yay!

I need a B in english to do it but I'm entered for foundation so the highest I can get is a C. The psychology teacher at parents' evening said that I might be accepted if I did well in my other subjects.

By the way, I would prefer to do Physics, Maths and Psychology.

Not sure. May proceed to Advenced Level IT if I can be bothered.

To me, education is not important. I'm just gonna get a job in what I'm good at (Computers) so I can get a little bit of cash, so I can buy food, e.t.c. Thats what it's all about, really. Not much else.
Sure, I'm not gonna get lots of cash that way, but I've learned to live without using hardly any cash at all.
I just plan to sit around and keep my friends and family company for the rest of my life, because thats the only reason why I stay on this boring planet.
