Arrow I saw this and despaired!

And I thought I was obsessed with my PS2!

From METRO:

:
Dan Holmes is the ultimate PlayStation 2 fan. he plays it for 4 hours a day, takes it on holiday and has spent £7000 on games. Now he has made the ultimate commitment to his console - he has changed his name by deed poll to, you guessed it, PlayStation 2.
The 29-year-old bachelor (what a surprise - Middlesboogie) said:
'Most blokes say the love of their life is a girlfriend or wife but I don't have one, so mine is PlayStation.
'Everyone ribs me about it, so it seemed natural to change my name. I am totally serious - I have even told my doctor.'
Mr. PlayStation 2, of Banbury Oxfordshire, says he has notched up 1500 hours on the joypad since love blossomed in November 2000.
He added: 'I joked about marrying a PlayStation and asked a few vicars if they would do the service. they didn't seem keen.'
What a sad tit! Death is too good for this guy.
If he did marry it, wouldn't that make his 'wife' PlayStation 2 PlayStation 2?

£7000? Was this man in the rich-list? [emphasis on the past tense!]

That's just too crazy! Although if he goes to Las Vegas I am sure he will find someone willing to marry "them". You can marry anything there... some guy married his motorcycle!

His motorcycle? He got married to his motorcycle ?

He changed his name to PlayStation2? Well, at least he didn't change it to XBox. What I think of the XBox (as a console; no offense, Munch's Oddysee players): It's a plagiaristic piece of (expletive deleted).

(could somebody tell me if I could somehow get this pic as my banner? If so, could you tell me how?)

Well in Asia somewhere a guy married a Barbie doll because he believed the soul of his late wife took up residence in it.

In what way is the Xbox plageristic?

I know why, it has controllers just like Nintendo consoles have and it has an AV adaptor like the PS2 has!
So plageristic!

The XBox is plagiaristic in these ways: It has the controller design of the Draemcast (as far as I could tell), it has the pressure-sensitive buttons of the PS2, and the C joystick of the Gamecube. That's how; it plagiarized all three competitors in one console.

Oh, but it's the best console out there! Sorry, I really couldn't resist saying that.

Now the other thing I thought of when I saw this topic was imagine a possible converstation between people naming themselves after consoles...

Mr PlayStation2: Hi, I'm Mr PlayStation 2
Mr Xbox: I'm Mr Xbox
Mr Nintendo: I'm Mr Nintendo
Mr PlayStation2: What is your favorite console?
Mr Xbox: the Xbox
Mr PlayStation2: but isn't that your name
Mr Xbox: Yeah ... well
Mr Nintendo: hey my console is better than yours
Mr Xbox: you wanna challege me to that
Mr Nintendo: Oh yeah
* row ensures between the three using controllers as weapons *

Okay... pretty lame, but anyway...

My name's nearly the same as the WipEout team AG Systems... All I'd need to do is change my surname!

And there's somebody in Tekken called Anna Williams!

If you want to continue on the same path...
And Sony stole the idea of a hard drive from Microsoft, Nintendo stole the idea of having a D-pad from Sony, Sega stole the idea of analogue sticks from Sony...blah blah blah...
Sony stole the idea of having a controller from Atari...
Nintendo stole the idea of making a hand-held from Atari...
Sega stole the idea of having these things called 'games' available to put in consoles from Atari...
The Xbox stole the idea of using DVDs from Sony...

Stop winging, the Xbox's controller was designed to be comfortable, not to use only new features that have never been on any other controller before!

If you think the Xbox's controller should be completely unique, why don't you describe some completely original features of a controller?

*chuckles* Nah, from what you just said, the XBox controllers are too comfortable. He'll never win. But if you want to know what controller I really hate, it's the original Nintendo system controller. That was just a rectangularly-shaped box with buttons. (Ugh! It gave me blisters.)

Arrow

My least fave 'controller' is the Game Boy Color... my hands are much closer together than they'd be with a console controller and I get RSI really easily.

And I'm sure Sony stole 'Do not underestimate the power of PlayStation' from Red Bull. I can remember some ancient Red Bull ads, which I'm pretty sure were from before 1995, saying 'do not underestimate the power of a Red Bull'.

Hmm, some totally new controller features... How about:
  • Controllers that bounce so they don't get damaged when you drop them (I've lost two Dual Shocks and a Dual Shock 2 this way!).
  • A gel-filled instead of rigid plastic shell that moulds itself to your hand contours.
  • A warning light when you've been playing for over 3 hours.
  • An automatic cable-retract so that you don't have to waste 40 seconds winding the cable round the controller so that it doesn't dangle over the table and trip Doris up, causing the controller to come crashing to the floor...
  • A voice that says 'you suck!' when you keep coming in 7th in WipEout Fusion.
  • Vanilla-scented thumbsticks that taste nice when you chew them in frustration.

Yeah.. come to think of it... those retractable cords would be extremely helpful.

But those thumbsticks... If I had that, my dog would eat them.

Very very werid............
