sound effects!

In Oddworld there is unique sound effects. Whats the sound effects going to be like in the last game? Ever think about that? Imagine that you are playing the last game and you are out woundering in the wilderness of Oddworld. You here the sounds of echos of the creatures and plus you can here the sound of a factory that is miles awey from where you are. That would be a cool element to put in the game. It would add more to the realism of Oddworld. Mann I I hope OWI does something like that for future games. They have sound effects but it's not like what I am talking about. I am looking for something more real. Like if you were standing in the rain forest. Sounds like that. That echoing that makes your envirement seem to be vast in size.

I can only imagine what sounds will be like when that last game comes out. Even now in Munch it's like that, if you have your x-box hooked up to a 5.1 surround system. It's rather eerie/wierd/nice to hear things WAY off in the distace, and from behind you- not to mention sligs yelling things at you from the back of the room *hehe*

Munch's Oddysee already lets you hear things behind you if you have a surround sound system. I have a mid-range surround sound system (i.e. not top of the line or anything), and in one of the Sloghut levels there are bombs being dropped. If I am facing towards it the bombs are louder, but if I turn around so they are behind me, I can hear them in my rear speakers at a lower volume. It's fun to turn around as you can hear the sounds change as you turn.

I'd imagine by the time the last Quintology game comes out, sound systems may have evolved some more, and you would be able to get more advanced affects.

I was looking more towords what it sounds like when you step out side. You could here cars that are miles awey. You could hear everything. I would like to have birds chirping and other creatures making there noises. In the quick time movies of the original version of Munch there is a movie that seems to do what I am trying to get at. It is the seen when the vending bomb is droped on that group of Mudokins running through the field. Before the vending bomb is droped, to me I hear a lot of birds in the back ground. It's sounds real. In the X-Box version you don't get birds chirping. You just get a few cricket like sounds. I don't have a surround sound system but I intend to get one.
