A place to stay?

(ooc: just starting a new topic as the old one was starting to get cluttered.

Peh, this ended up longer than I though it would… Oh well. I just got typing and it did its own thing, as fics tend to do for me…)

Jan just stood, for a while, gazed round the square and silently took in the hustle-bustle of late afternoon. It was getting late, would soon be getting dusk, so they’d need to find a place to stay soon – some food, too. His last travel-biscuit had already crumbled to dust in the bottom of his bag and Aura had somehow managed to lay her hands on the last of the vine-fruit.
“Aura?”
She was back on the floor, looking for someone to talk to; she glanced up at his comment. “Yeah, what?”
“I’m going to go find out about accommodation. You coming?”
“Nah, I’m goin’ t’find someone t’chat wi’,” she was already padding away.
He shook his head and smiled, but turned and went his own way.
She padded around aimlessly for a while, feeling lost and lonely. She wanted someone to talk to, but most of the muds ignored her and the sligs were all in the usual packs, chatting animatedly as ever, and she didn’t want to intrude…
She was almost giving up hope of finding anyone when she found him – a young male, maybe her age or a little older, lounging against a conveniently high treestump, toying with a knife in one hand and flicking through what looked like a newspaper in the other.
“Hey!” Aura called, brightly.
He looked up; his features quirked into an amused grin. “Hey lady,” he said, mildly, watching as she padded over and hoisted herself onto a low branch. “Not seen yer round before. Y’new in town?”
She nodded. “Yep. An’ – well, wi’ a bit o’ luck – we ain’t stayin’ long neither.”
“Y’heard them rumours, then,” he’d gone back to his paper.
“Yeah. Hope that’s all they are.”
He chuckled. “Y’needn’t worry, we get strange things happ’nin’ here all the time.”
“Sounds like home,” she flopped onto her branch and dangled her arms down either side. “Wha’s name?”
“Who, me? Nar. Yerself?”
“Aura.”
“What’s with all this in-tree-no-pants lark, anyway…?”

While Aura chatted, Jan was trying to make arrangements for a place to stay. He thought he’d have been annoyed that she was being bone-idle again, but for once he was glad she was out of the way – no chance of her inadvertently insulting one of these mudokons and getting into a brawl… The muds at home were familiar enough with sligs, and judging by the population here these mudokons would be as well, but you couldn’t take chances… The town was smaller than home – more like a village, actually – but it looked like it had all the amenities, albeit on a smaller scale. He headed for the nearest building, a long, somewhat squat two-storey one next to a tall, spreading, sensitive-tree.
Jan poked his head round the doorway. “Hello…?” he called, faintly. “Anyone home?”
“Be right with you,” a mild voice returned; it echoed out through an open doorway.
Taking that as a good sign, Jan padded in and went over to the low counter running halfway along the far wall, with just enough room to walk down behind; looked like a restaurant, he guessed – now he was in he could see there were other patrons, but most looked preoccupied with their own business.
“What can I do for you?” the voice went on – it was a mudokon, wearing a lopsided smile and a towel slung over one bony shoulder.
“Uh… hi. Um, listen…” Jan frowned, trying to compose his thoughts. “My friend and I… uh, well, we’re new to town, just passing through, really, but we needed something to eat and a place to stay for the night, I was wondering if you, uh, you know, knew anything that might be helpful…”
The mudokon behind the counter laughed. “Let me guess, someone’s been filling your head with rumours? Don’t you worry about that, there’s a lot doing the rounds at the moment…” he shrugged. “A place to stay, was it? And something to eat?”
“Please,” Jan kicked his heels while the mudokon bustled about behind the counter. “Uh, well, I don’t know what we’d do to pay, though, We weren’t intending being gone long, and I haven’t got any money with me…”
“No big deal,” the taller adult rubbed his chin, thoughtfully. “I guess I could let you do a bit of work to pay for lodgings…”
“Aura won’t like that…” Jan chuckled.
The mud lifted his gaze, looked out from under his eyebrows. “Your friend not like work, then?” he asked, an odd, rather vague smile in place of the cheery one he’d worn when Jan had first asked for help.
Jan gave him a second or two of scrutiny before going on. “Well, it’s not that, she just whinges if she has to. I guess it’s a genetic thing; they’re all a bit like it, aren’t they?”
The look had gone from smile to distinctly hostile. “You travel with a slig?”
“Uh…” Jan frowned, faintly, a little taken aback by the poison in the soft voice. “Well, yeah, I… didn’t know there… didn’t think there’d…”
The mudokon turned away, his manner aloof, disdainful. “Then I don’t think I can help you. Good afternoon.”
“I-… wait…!” He called after him, halfheartedly, but he’d already gone. Dispirited, Jan turned and addressed the world in general; “Someone tell me what I did wrong, there…?”

(ooc: If Mal ain’t hungry that’s NP, if you know what I mean, Dragon-lady... I can't remember what We'd decided)

(ooc: not a problem...maybe this will jog your memory *grins*)

Malice paced in a nearby clearing, angry with himself for making such a stupid mistake earlier that day. He wanted....oooohhhh he just wanted to tear something apart right now. Something to vent his frustrations on and make him feel better about himself.
Then there was a scent on a passing breeze that made him stop pacing for a moment.
A slig... he thought, close too....hmmmmm
He grinned and started stalking in the direction the breeze came from. After a bit he found the scents ower; a slig lounging against a high tree stump. Malice chuckled silently to himself as he prepared to strike, the tip of his tail twitching like a cats during a hunt. Then he pounced, catching the slig off guard completely.
The first thing he did was rip out the sligs voice box...to keep it from screaming. While he wanted to hear his victims cries of pain, he was too close to the village at that moment. He paused to think a moment, wondering what he should do to it.
Suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his arm as the slig plunged a knife into it; he hadn't noticed the slig was armed and he fought to keep himself from crying out in pain. He glared at the slig and growled:
"That wasn't nice...." Malice then proceeded to just tear the slig apart using his claws and jaws and he made absolute sure that the slig was alive through most of it....
When he was done he allowed himself to laugh a bit.
"I feel much better now!" he laughed as he turned away from the torn and scattered remains of what was once a slig. He winced in pain and remembered that blasted knife stuck in his arm. He pulled it out with a look of disgust on his face and tossed it away.
Malice then slipped back into the undergrowth. He never noticed Aura in the trees above him, who had witness the whole event with a muted look of terror on her face....

(ooc: your turn Teal. *grins*)

[ooc: My turn, eh…? *rubs hands together and does the mad-scientist-evil-laugh*]

Aura had been dozing, higher up in the tree, almost in the canopy, where the sinking sun was casting a rich glow across some old somewhat-bare branches. She’d been sunbathing quite happily when she heard the faint sound of a scuffle from below…
She opened one eye a crack – probably just Nar and a pack-mate arguing over a triviality, they’d get over it… rearranged her lean frame along the broad branch and dozed again.
There was a dull thud from below – she opened both eyes, startled, and peered down through the branches…
What in Odd’s name is THAT? She wondered, watching as Nar and the weird sliglike creature circled… It was red, a rich, fresh-blood colour, and spiny… Maybe some kind of primitive cousin, she wondered? It had a predator’s gait, padded almost teasingly around its intended prey – Nar – while apparently sizing him up.
Then she noticed – Nar was bleeding, and quite heavily – an ugly, jagged gash ran along the line of his jaw, and she could hear the soft whup… whup… whup… of his laboured breathing. He bounced the knife from hand to hand, looking for an opening.
The heavy red head swung lazily back on its long neck; it was staring back at the village, as though wondering if this place would be a good food source. Nar took his chance and in a smooth fluid stroke had flung the blade in a neat arc. It slammed solidly into the creature’s arm…
It destroyed the illusion of being a simple, forgivable predator going about the daily business of getting food when it spoke. “That wasn’t nice,” it said, in an almost surprised manner, and with one stroke of a massive paw swatted Nar smartly round the snout, stunning him.
She was already shivering, hugging the tree branch and trying not to make any noise – dammit, trying not to breathe – because, well… If it could speak, it meant it was intelligent, and if it was intelligent it would know she’d go and tell someone it had attacked her friend, so if she kept quiet she’d be safe…
Then it reached out one long paw and lifted Nar clean out of his pants, slammed him roughly onto his back against the beaten sunscorched earth by the treestump. “What shall I do with yer, then, little sliggy…?” it asked, cocking its head and pressing its weight firmly onto its hapless prey’s chest.
Aura watched, morbidly fascinated, as it lowered its massive head and began to carefully rip bits of skin off his face…
Nar gave a breathless whimper and tried to squirm away, prompting a soft snort of amusement from his assailant. He even tried to push the head away, before the creature carefully relieved him of his arms…
She covered her eyes and whimpered, faintly, unable to watch any more.
Finally it straightened up and gave a soft, rumbling laugh, reminding her in a horrible way of one of her ‘uncles’ and sending a chill up her spine. It batted the dismembered head round, idly, for a second or two more, then stretched and laughed; “I feel much better now…”
Aura watched in silent anguish as it flicked the knife into the undergrowth and was gone, away into the shadows. She just stared, for a while, stunned, trying to ignore the stink of blood on the air and the scattered pieces of skin and muscle and tendon and bone discarded round the treestump.
So what should I do NOW…? she wondered, miserably. Go back and get help? That ran the risk of it getting away. And… no! No, she wan’t just going to sit here and let it get away scot-free, she was going to follow it…! With furious tears stinging at her eyes, she set off in pursuit.

The red creature had stopped in a clearing, to clean up. He – she guessed it was a he, anyway – had his head down and was licking away at his lower right arm, cleaning the blood off it, blood which would otherwise become a scent trail as clear as if it had been spray-painted for would-be pursuers.
Feeling foolishly brave she pitched a fat green pinecone at it.
It bounced off his head; he gave a start, straightened up, and demanded, in that dangerously pleasant voice; “someone chucking things?”
“Yeah, I’m chucking things, y’fat red freak…” She howled at him from her branch, and pitched another one, feeling the tears flowing, now.
“Well well…” he’d started homing in on her voice, looking heavy and ungainly. “What have we here, hmm? Another little slig? Bit brave, aren’t you…?”
She just wailed inarticulately at him and pitched more pinecones at first. Then; “What the frackin’ frack’s sake yer want ter frackin’ kill him fer?” she shrieked, between sobs. “What kind of a monster are yer, anyway…?!”
The red creature closed one long paw around a low branch and hauled himself up with the same easy grace as all “natural” sligs had. “I am any monster I choose to be, my dear…” the voice went on, smooth as silk and oozing menace.
Dammit, she hadn’t realised he’d be able to climb… she scrambled a bit higher, realising she’d gone and put her metaphorical snout into the scrab’s cage…
The voice chuckled. “Where you going, Sweetheart…? I only want to talk to you…” and added, with a thin, ugly snarling sound, “Right up close…
She fled, his laughter ringing in her ears.
“That’s right, little slig, run…!” his voice chased her. “RUN! I haven’t had a decent hunt in a looong time…”
She could hear him pursuing her; could hear the swish of branches as he moved with an easy grace through the forest behind her… Blinded by tears she slipped and nearly fell twice, and each time she slipped he shortened her lead by another couple of metres.
She outwitted him by a stroke of luck. Naturally, she’d been getting higher as she’d scrambled through the forest, and was by now scrambling along in the fine, whippy branches of the upper canopy. They swayed madly under her weight, but, damn…! If they barely supported her weight they sure as frack wouldn’t support him… she scrambled higher.
Her theory was borne out a few minutes later, as the taunting, laughing cries turned into muted snarled annoyance, and suddenly there was a low splintering crack! and a curse…
She stayed up in the topmost canopy of the forest around the village for a long time, that evening, knowing Jan was looking for her, but too damn scared to leave the relative sanctuary of her tree. She could hear him yelling, could hear her name being called, but daren’t move, daren’t, just in case… Just clung to her tree, and wept, stunned and shocked and scared out of her wits.

(ooc: Bleh, sorry, I don’t think I got Mal right. And I seem to end up writing more and more for each post as days go by… ah well. I’m rattling again, who’s got the frying pan?)

(you got some damn good writing!)

Slick was on yet another "quest for adventure" as the raisin would call it. he hed been walking through the forest for many days and nights, it had been the same monotonous thing over and over, untill this day. He heard a thud and a strange noise about 20 yards ahead of him. he began to get that feeling that every slig gets now and then, he wanted a hunt. his pants would make to much noise if he walked, and he had to make his move now. he leaped forward and raised his gun in a split second; three huge balls of plasma went straight toward the creature he couldn't see untill now. it was a strange red creature that he had never seen before. It's reflexes were like none other, it was faster than anything he had seen. it leaped out of the way and began to rush at him. Slick ducked and the creature tore a gash in his arm, then ran into the brush completely unscathed. Slick thought it might start to stalk him, so he began to head for the nearby town.
(you guys turn, i need to know more about the town before i write about it)

and no, you can't kill him malice; but i got a new friend who's joining, he's called "Evil Slog", if i can convince him to play, he'll push his luck with malice, have fun with him.

also, i just read the last 1 written by teal, tell me if u want me 2 change mine our if your gonna change yours

(OOC: Okay, since no-one has done so yet, and on the event that Blue no longer has anything to do, she will offer Jan a place to stay. Hope it's okay, Teal. You can decline if it'll be ruining your plot or anything)

As Jan exits Arim's, he is met by a dark blue female mud, who is quite plump, has webbed hands and feet, and has a long dark blue pony tail.

"Hey buddy. I was just coming by here and I couldn't help overhearing your convo with Arim in there. I'm afraid he doesn't take kindly to Sligs, even the friendly ones. I think he has a real hatred of everything accosiated with the Cartel." Blue said.

"Ah, I see." Said Jan.

"Anyway, you look in need of somewhere to stay for a bit around here, and I'm afraid accomadation is pretty hard to find, not to mention that staying here will be a bit risky in the near future by the looks of things."

"Risky?" Jan asked.

"Yeah, some mudokon got murdered a couple of days ago. It was me who found the body. . . or at least what was left of it. Also, someone reported one of the local sligs being missing. My guess is that there is something nasty prowling around here. And it's not just any dumb creature judging by the way it mutilated that body and strung. . . I won't go into details." Blue told Jan.

"Yikes!"

"Of course, if you wish to stay here, then your making a mistake. My advice is that you ought to leave ASAP. It isn't very safe in Pyke very much at all. Strange things keep happening in it. . . But anyway, if you still want to take the risk and stay here, I am able to provide you and your slig friend with a small hut over at my families estate." Blue said.

"Estate?" Inquierd Jan.

"Well, actually it's a small cluster of huts, surrounded by a tall fence, which should be able to keep any nasties out of it. Anyway, I heard you need food and by the looks of it, a bath. I can also offer those two things free of charge. What do you say?"

(OOC: Your turn, Teal. You can decline if it's ruining your plot or anybody elses plot or anything)

(ooc: No what I am getting at, SlogMaster, is that no one is supposed to survive an encounter with Malice, other then the characters RPer's I have coordinated with. You see...Malice wouldn't have ran from your character unless he was totally out classed. He would have stayed and fought until either his oppentent was dead or he realized the fight wasn't going his way. THEN he would run. And trust me...there are VERY FEW people that can stand up to him!)

Slick finally came to the edges of the village, it seemed to be equally inhabited by sligs and mudokons, but he was sure that there would still be a heavy amount of racial boundaries. as he walked into the mass of market places and inns, he noticed a strange stare as if he was a murderer. he had never been to this town before, so he figured that it must just be the way this village reacts to newcomers. but for some reason, there was one particular mudokon that wasn't at all affected by Slick walking by. could it be possible this far in the middle of nowhere that a mudokon could have no problem with sligs. Slick later came upon the inn looking for a place to stay, but when he walked in, the keeper seemed displeased.
"how much is it for a night"
"we don't serve sligs here"
*Slick raises his gun* "you sure?" he said to the mudokon; the mudokon seemed startled
"how much" Slick says
"that's a nice gun you have there, it should be worth something"
"don't push it"
"what do you have then?"
*Slick lowers his gun*"all i have is a pair of regular slig pants, you must have some use for them in this town"
"I told you, we don't serve sligs!, what would i do with pants!?!? now get out!"
"fine, what ever suits you"

Slick left, he was in desperate need of shelter, especially now that he knew there was something after him.he would rather stay outside and fend himself than trade his gun for a night under the same roof as a mudokon that would likely try to kill him in his sleep and take his pants too. He leaned up against a torch near the edge of the village, he was waiting for something. He didn't know if what he was waiting for would be something that would hurt him like what was in the forest, or if it would be friendly. The only thing he could do to stay safe and prepared for what ever he was waiting for, would be to stay awake, so he did. He just wished that someone would be generous enough to accompany him, at least untill it got dark.

(Teal, the mud. that slick sees can be Jan if you want, also, if Aura needs pants, just ask, Slick has an extra pair and they wont fit him anyway; and Dragadon, i'll try to do what i can to keep your plan goin without Slick dying)

( I've waited for over a day and i can't take the suspense! hurry, someone take their turn!!!!)

[ooc: *does much eye-rolling* Methinks someone needs to get the hang of the whole RP thing, here...

Aura's been brought up entirely as a native - she has no links with the Cartel at all, and wouldn't know how to use pants even if she got them.

Aura: *mutters dark things about Cartel employees*

And please, calm down! This board doesn't have massively heavy traffic, it often takes a few days to get a reply on something if you get a reply at all, and people will change topics, or start new ones, etc etc. My suggestion is that you read back over the existing posts (as I've been doing) and try get your head round how the longtime RPGers do things, and what their characters do/how they behave. If there's not enough there, some people (me and Drag in particular) are
enthusiastic fanfic writers, so head on over to Fan Corner and read up if you've got nothing better to do. As an example, I couldn't think of a new character so just picked Aura straight out of my fic series - I'll be atsrting "Fools Errands" soon, which centres round her and Jan. It's frustrating, and very annoying, to have someone write something for your character and have them write it entirely out of character. Otherwise I forsee many infuriated RPG-ers. You don't want a mad dragon on your tail when you're ooc...

*looks at the content of her post and winces* Mesa thinks I been rambling. Where's the damn frying pan, someone?!

Hey, Rett? *grins* Does Arim need a bouncer? I'll give Hak a yell... ah, wait, hang on. Wrong species. Scratch that.

Now. Anyone got any ideas how to get a terrified sligette out of a tree?]

(he was raised as an ignorant slig and forced to "like" the cartell; he wasn't as smart as a natural slig untill the Raisin taught him; and sorry 4 not knowin NEthig bout RP-ing, but i'm new here and it comes with the package. & Dragadon, just wonderin, have you ever even seen an animal get its brains blown out with a high powered rifle at point blank, or skin an animal while its heart's still beating? and if you have, sorry 4 questioning you)

[ooc: Bleg, brain is now dead.

Note to DH: Nyam, sorry, I meant to answer the other night but forgot to copy/haste the topic to word so I didn't know what'd been said. I'll finish it this morning.

Edit: Bleh, I'll have to go home and write it and post it tomorrow. (mesa still sick) I'll just say yes, he'll take her up on the offer of a place to stay, then go off looking for Aura, who will probably do a lot of whining and complaining about what happened... I'll edit out all this load of balls once I've posted it. (Um, *thoughtful face* look in SRFR. I dunno what we discussed, Drag etc...)

Note to SM: Aura's still up a tree. If characters "talk" in ooc, it's not related to plotlines. It's just us unloading some of the garbage that we acquire when RPGing. Now... hm.

(Jan: *rolls eyes* Tell me about it. I think I'll try tempting her down with food... usually responds well to that...

*voice from tree*: I HEARD THAT!! I'LL COME DOWN THERE AN' BEAT YER IF YER DON' QUIT BEIN' CHEEKY...!

Jan: *shrugs* Problem solved, I think...)

And with reference to your last point, SM, to do with animal brains etc... why would you want to?
Blah, where did that come from? )

(ooc: *to SM* nope...don't want to either. If you are wondering where I got all the gory stuff for the Malice Plot...I just have a good imagination.
*to Teal* I think the only other thing we discussed is that no one believes Aura when she tells them want scared the pants off her...(figure of speech...I know she doesn't wear pants)

Malice: I feel better after that last post you did...

I figured you would...)

(ooc: ah fresh prey...I mean...a fresh player..hehe. If you would be so kind as to put your character stats in the 'Main Character Descriptions...only!' topic I would be greatful.

Oh and...careful of Malice...just because your character can fly doesn't mean he can't get you *grins*

Malice: *loads a harpoon* Just let me know when I can shoot *grins evilly*

[OOC: i just spent a WHOLE F*CKING HOUR typing out a reply in which i introduced my bounty hunters, got Aura out of the tree, and sent the bounties off to convenient places so Malice could dispose of them at his leisure. then the F*CKING UBB decided to suddenly delete the whole post for no reason. i can't be bothered to retype it, so i'm just going to give you a rough plot synopsis of what happened...

Aura saw a group of 11 people walking under her tree, and they helped her down. There was a Glukkon, Smick [if you remember him from the one post he has previously appeared in], a very Large Slig, Krik [not a bigbro, but almost as big from sheer training], and 9 muds. The two muds with particlular distinguishing features that Aura noticed were Hoan, a quite old-looking, slender mud who nevertheless moved quickly, lithely, and confidently, and a mud with incredibly bright green skin who didn't say much [Aura never found out his name]. They revealed themselves to be Bounty Hunters who had been sent after Malice.

Krik decided that he'd had enough of the others' indecisiveness and inaction, and ran off on his own to try and find Malice to kill him [Krik's philosophy is 'The Direct Approach is Always the Best Approach'...].

After a brief argument about what to do, Smick, Hoan, Aura, and the bright green mud headed off to Pyke to try and find Ludd, while the other 7 muds decided to scout out the area, to see if Malice had any particular base of operations, and to try and find out where he is now.

Just add some poetic language and first class descriptive writing, and you have what i posted before... j/k...

night was coming, the sun began to set. Slick slowly fingered the night vision goggles on his mask, he just watched the town empty itself out for a few hours, mudokons were going into their huts, coming out of the market places, a quarl between two young sligs would fabricate every now and then, but not much action besides that. but then some movement from the woods right on the out-skirts of the village caught his eye, he readied his gun like he was in a draw with what ever was out there; ready for what he had hoped it wouldn't be; instead, he saw two mudokons, one particularly bright green, and the other quite thin and confident-looking. oddly, a somewhat short glukkon was right behind them, and didn't seem to be holding or controlling them in any way; and finally, he saw a beautiful young sliggette padding along beside them, she was quite smaller than usual, she was also darker than most and her stripes were hard to make out, she seemed to have some kind of glitter around her eyes, and a pendant embracing her neck. he was quite tempted to approach her and try to begin a conversation, but some how, he felt better just not letting her notice him.

(sorry, temporary typers block, you can finish from there, but if it isn't done when i come back, i'll finish it; Ret, i hope i'm right about Smick; & Teal, i know it's not glitter, but Slick doesn't know)

[ooc: Arr! I'd written a reply, as well, so... *shrugs* I'll just use the Jan bits. Well, the Jan-and-Blue bits, anyway.]

Jan gave the dark female a wan smile. “I think it sounds ideal. We weren’t planning on staying long, anyway, and what with what you just said…” he hugged his arms round himself, rubbed his arms. “Just don’t mention it to Aura, she’s very excitable…”
“She?”
Jan waved his hands. “Long story, I’ll explain later if you want to know… Listen, is there someplace I can meet you? I… well, she went off to find someone to talk to, so I’ve got to go find her…”
“Hm,” the dark face crimped in a frown. “So she’s on her own? Hope she kept her wits about her.”
“Me too…”

[ooc: Uh... that was... short. Nyam!

Oh, and a question? I thought it was still evening? As Jan won't go off and get any sleep without knowing where she is, as he promised his "dad" he'd look after her, and although he thinks she's a pain in the arse half the time he does take his responsibilities seriously... *shrugs* Okay, so I'm rambling again]

[OOC: i think she's been up there quite a while, teal... me and rach worked out that she's been up that tree roughly two or three days... maybe Jan agreed that day, and has been looking for her since then...]

Smick tried to keep his head down, shivering. He could see the glances of the villagers, and could tell that he wasn't welcome here. I gotta find Ludd... he thought. Out loud, he said: "I doubt that he's likely to attack any of us individually in the town, I think we'd be safe going our own separate ways now, yeah?"

The bright-green-skinned mudokon that he'd never really learned the name of nodded. "Agreed." He began to walk off. As he walked away, Smick realised that he'd never heard that mud speak more than two words at once in all the (how long was it?) five months they'd been working together, tracking Malice. He'd generally been pretty quiet.

Smick turned to Hoan. "What did you plan on doing in the town?"

The lithe mud smiled. "I thought I'd check out the area, and ask around a bit. I'm probably more likely to get to talk with the villagers if you're not around, no offense intended, or course..."

Smick nodded, biting his lip. "Yeah, I understand." As Hoan sauntered off, Smick bent down to Aura. "Do you have anywhere you need to go?"

The little slig was looking around, anxiously. "I need to find my companion, Jan, but I don't know where he is..."

Smick looked around for a moment, following Aura's searching gaze. "Well, I need to find my companion, Ludd, and I don't know where he is either." He cocked his head to one side and looked down at Aura. "Shall we search together?"

Aura sighed. "Why not?" Smick smiled, and lifted her up onto his shoulders, and they wandered away together...

*Maenwhile, back at "Camp Biros", Blue has just finished clearing one of the spare huts.*

Blue: "Well. . . Maybe it's a good job he's taking his time. . . This has taken me three days to do. . ."

*Withinhoe appears behind her*

Withinhoe: "So your done, eh? Your friend not turned up yet?"

Blue: "No. . . It's been three days since I spoke to him. . ."

Withinhoe: "Well, my limited sixth sence tells me that he is still alive. . . And close by. . . But I can't tell you anything else."

Blue: "Really? Well, maybe I ought to go look for him. . ."

Withinhoe: "That might be a good idea."

Blue: "Thanks, mum. I'll see you later."

Withinhoe: "No problem, oh duaghter. Be safe now."

Blue: "Will do." *Similes and exits the gate. Shutting it behind her, she then heads off towards the town square. . .*

they (Smick & Aura) were headed tward Slick, he tried to be his "cool" self; obviously trying to impress Aura, and leaned all his weight up against the post. they began to come closer, this put even more pressure on him, trying not to loose his cool. this happened to be one of the weaker post in the village, hence, it began to crack. he quickly took his weight off it, looking straight at Aura the whole time, just hoping she would notice him. she was about three feet away from him when he began to clear his throat;
Slick: "hey, wat's yer name? You from here?"

(sorry i stopped, but i don't wanna decied things for your character, oh yea, and i updated mt char. descpiption, don't worry, it won't change the story [he's the equivalent to a 19 year old human])

[ooc: Gah, I'll try write some tonight, or later this morning... Couldn't do any last night, as I had seven unknown compounds to determine, (which took bloody hours, I was up till three in the morning doing them) and now I've got a wokshop in the Room of Doom with Doctor Who-Ate-ALL-the-Pies Blagborough. Bleh

Edit: Hum. Well, I got something written. Blah, pantsness. This is effectively a nothing. Oh well. Can I still blame it on flu?

*takes a brief pause to beat hell out of her computer and re-copy-post everything she'd just posted as it had eaten a big chunk of it, then remembers editing posts doesn't bring them up to the top of the forum, rolls eyes and goes to post it as a new topic so people will know she's done it*]

[ooc: Bosh]

Jan was tired and fed up; he'd been looking everywhere for the little pest, and was beginning to think that thing that had been randimly slaughtering the townsfolk had got her when;

“Aura…!” Dammit, there she was… for some odd reason she was with a glukkon, him carrying her, apparently not too bothered by her maskless face, with her head on his shoulder. He guessed they weren’t on bad terms; the glukk would probably never have offered to carry her otherwise, especially as her head – and by that token, her often excruciating voice as well – was right by his ear.

“Hey… hey!” He ran over, waving his arms. “Aura, what the frack do you think you’ve been playing at?! I spent three whole bloody days looking for you…!”

She hunched her shoulders. “I was scared,” she mumbled into the glukkon’s neck.

“Yeah, well, so was I! Dammit, I thought that… that thing had got you…!”

She visibly winced at the mention of that Thing.

“Aura…?” Jan asked, faintly.

“She had a bit of a run in with him,” the glukkon supplied. “She’s actually pretty lucky to still be alive. I’m guessing you’re her companion.”

Jan just nodded, mutely, at first, then remembered his manners. “Yes. Um,” he scratched his head. “Thanks for finding her, I guess.”

“No problem,” the glukkon nodded. “You want to get down now?” he turned his attention to Aura, who was staring about herself with fever-bright eyes. She still looked somewhat shaken, although not half as skittish as when they’d found her…

She nodded and simply let go, and slithered to the ground without any of her usual finesse. She landed with a whump, gave her head a shake, and then stretched out an arm to Jan. She hid her head under his chin the second he’d picked her up, clinging to him like she was a hatchling again.

“Y’won let ‘im get me, will yer, Jan…?” she implored, shivering, chewing her fingers.

“I won’t let anyone get you,” he said, gently.

“An’ we c’n leave tomorrer mornin’, right? Jus’ like yer said.”

“Yes, we can leave in the morning…”

“Um… I wouldn’t advise that, you know,” the glukkon demurred.

Jan looked up. “You wouldn’t?”

“Not with Him on the loose, anyway…” the glukkon shifted his handfeet, looking concerned. “Listen, I better be going…”

There was a distant shout. “Hey, Jan…!”

Jan turned to see who’d called, and the glukkon took his chance to slip away.

There was Blue, approaching at a heavy trot, from the direction of the town square. “I’ve been looking all over for you two…” she said, looking a little out of breath.

[ooc: *has the sudden burning urge to belt out a very loud version of Babylon Zoo's "Spaceman" and gets scared as she doesn't know why...*]
