8-Person MSN Conversation

As those of you who have MSN Messenger will know, there is a limit of 5 people in a conversation at once. However, some of you may have heard Eddie [Dark Hood] talking about the fabled possibility of a 6-person conversation. The way it works is, when you have 4 people in a conversation, two of them each invite different people in at the same time, thus resulting in there being 6.

Of course, when we were told about this by Eddie, we scoffed. "6-person conversations?" we said, in disbelief, "Why, that is the stuff of Fairytales!" But it wasn't long before he managed to persuade us to try it, and after a few blundered attempts, we finally succeeded.

But there are not always 6 people or less online from the Forums. In recent weeks, more and more people have joined our little online community, which has led to more and more people being left out of conversations. Today, there were 8 of us: Me, Rach [Dragadon], Eddie [Dark Hood], Em [Black Dragon], Mel [Melvin], Tom [Glukk Shmuck], Scott [FuzzyFuzzle], and Justin [Chris Co Depot]. How could we fix it so that we can all talk together?

Remembering Eddie's 6-person conversation, I suggested to the others that it might be possible to engineer an 8-person conversation.

Even Eddie said "No!"

But the times were tough, and when the going gets tough, the tough make an 8-person conversation. So Myself, Scott, Eddie, and Mel bravely volunteered to create a new conversation. There were four of us. There was only one space left in the conversation. Could we fit four people into it?

Sweat dripping from my brow, I slowly performed the countdown...

3...
2...
1...

Quick as a flash, our cursors flew to the Invite buttons!

Tom's in!
Rachel's in!
Justin's in!

...But no Emily. We began to despair, and console ourselves that we at least got a 7-person conversation.

The, suddenly, "Unopa has been added to this conversation." Em had made it! We leapt to our feet, cheering. We had beated Microsoft! They had said we could only have 5 people in a conversation, and we naively believed them! But now we had seen for ourselves the power of the People against the Corporations!

So when you despair, when life gets you down, when a family member has died, or when you've been dumped, just remember: an 8-person conversation IS possible. Then you will always be able to smile...

Isn't it amazing? Of course the story ends with me having network problems and leaving, as most MSN stories involving me do. So, as this story goes to show you, WE RULE THE UNIVERSE!!!

Ha! In ICQ, you need not any quick reflexes or tricky tactics to have a yarn with more than five friends! ICQ allows for as many people as you wish in a chat window (provided you're in IRC mode), which is just one of the reasons why ICQ is my messenger program of choice.

the easiest way is to tell it not to remember your password on this computer, but since i never have anything remember my password, i don't know how to get it not to if it already does... also, you can get it to not start up when windows does by going into your start menu to Start>Programs>StartUp, and then deleting the shortcut to MSN.
