Now this really sucks..

I was reading an article right, and it said that people were not allowed to say christmas in public. That's so unfair...but how are they going to stop the people who say it? Are they going to throw them to jail? For that?! Puhlease. Has anyone else heard about that?

Well, it obviously isn't puritan-ruled America...

Probably Australia or Afganistan's soon-to-defect-back-to-Taleban temporary government...

*gets put in jail and beaten up by the police*

Damn, that's what I get for living in a country where police are allowed to beat innocent people-up and not even get suspended for it.

It would be useful to see this article, so if anyone comes across it, please post the URL...

I doubt that it has been made illegal, they've probably just stopped using it on Adverts and Civil decorations. They did that in Bristol, I think it was, where people now have to call it Winterval... Much as I am not a Christian, this is just ridiculous...

*Looks to see if anybody has said that it was just* Nope, can't see any... Although I don't think it's a case of Justice, more of Sillyness. I do not believe for one second that they would throw anybody in prison. I don't know who told you that, but boy are you gullible... [j/k] Like I said, the word "Christmas" won't have been criminalised, because that is a breach of Freedom of Religion, but it will simply not be used exclusively in adverts and decorations any more.

Well, I fail to see how being Cynical makes me Gullible, but that's not really relevant. All I'd like to say is: Show me the Article that says that using the word "Christmas" is a Criminal Offense...

Yeah, i don't think they could do that either.
that's like the supposed law against singing 'happy birthday' in public, because your not paying royalties to the creators of the song.
It's just garbage.

Well Christmas is supposed to be about Christ right? Well I know squat about religion (my mom collects angels, does that count?). Besides, except for the few who actually go to church on this day it's become what I like to call "Traditional Commercialism Day".

So even though I'm not religious I'm not going to ruin the occasion for my kids! All these years I got gifts because a while back some ancestor decided he/she was "religious" so when I have kids it will feel more like it is now, not some sort of biblical thing but an a tradition where lucky kids get new toys for now reason and adults get new cloths and whatnot.

X-MAS FOREVER

Yeah, Christmas is about Christ. I find it stupid not to say Christmas because some guy gets offended about it or something. When if someone gets offended on what he believes? Does that makes us not ban that too?

I don't even think christmas should be celebrated for a few reasons: Who really thinks about Jesus or more appropriatly cares? The whole holiday is about food and santa and a boost in corporate fat cat's pay checks. Not only christians celebrate it, it's like the national celebration that crosses all religious boundaries, and that's not right. Do jews celebrate rmadan, do Baptist's celebrate yomkippur? You can't spell christmas without christ and you shouldn't be able to celebrate it without faith in christ. And it(at my house anyway) is never a time of selfless giftgiving and goodwil towards men, it's about wrangling and working your kiester off a few weeks before christmas so you can get gifts and doing the same a few days afterwards so mom doesn't take the gifts "back to the store" It's about bitterness and fighting over gifts and not about happiness or christ at all

Yeash. I mean, sometimes I can understand some laws, but isn't this kind of going against freedom of speech? We can say that the government sucks, that George Bush is an idiot, but we can't say christmas? What the frick is up with that? Sometimes the law does go too far.
