Rex, I'm not sure why you always address forum issues to Sydney only, but myself and Sydney both run the forums equally. So I thought I would just clear you up on that.
As for your question... and this is actually more my area than Sydney's as I do all the hacks, etc for the forums, I'm not sure if it is possible.
I see what you mean, that sometimes the "topic" in the listing can be a little bit of a spoiler in itself. But in my searching for appropriate hacks for the forums I haven't come across one which allows you to not include the last post in the forum. I think the only way this doesn't occur is if it's a private forum (like Employee Lounge for instance).
