GTMS: You've said that Abe (and all the Inhabitants) are essentially asexual. Does this serve a story telling purpose or is it a good way to get around an issue that could be construed as too controversial if it were addressed?

LL: The nature of our characters' sexuality has a tremendous amount to do with the storytelling. But this has yet to surface in our games as of yet. The beginnings of this will become revealed in Munch's Oddysee. The purpose is too complicated to describe just yet; in time it will make much more sense. With regard to controversy, I think that where we are going with sexual relations will be far more controversial than conventional sex could ever get. However, the classic boy meets girl story doesn't stand a chance on Oddworld. It just won't happen

Well, I imagine it was due to the revelation that mudokons, sligs and glukkons have 'Mothers', and how important their roles are in the universe. Maggie pretty much props up the Magog Cartel with her wisdom and money, whereas Sam, Abe's mother, is little more than a breeding machine, suicidally depressed, signed into a contract with the Magog Cartel that simultaneously saved her children and committed them to a lifetime of slavery.

You know though, to have queens, there have to be 'male' mudokons/ gluks/ sligs, so maybe we'd find out about drone mudokons or something??

Not particularly. It's possible that some or all of the queens are in some way hermaphrodotic and self inseminating. It'd be setting any "colony" of the species up for a mass plague because of the lack of diversity in their genomes, but still, imagine how fucked up that would be.

I highly doubt there's only one mudokon queen in the entire history of Oddworld. Just as I'm sure there are other glukkon queens, slig queens, and paramite queens. I can, however, see all the queens being killed off one by one until Sam was one of the very few that remained.

And who knows? Going off the fact that Oddworld is one big ol allegory about big business, corporations, working conditions, labour, and nature vs industrialism, the rape (assuming it goes in that direction at all) could be another allegory for anything really. Something something we're all born and die within the system blah blah people are just numbers to those in charge pbbbt they don't actually care about our well-being

Most of Oddworld's sentient creatures that we are aware of breed via queens so they probably have drone/consort specimens that breed with the queen and likely fight ferociously for the right to breed. Exploring the traditions and rituals surrounding such social structure may be interesting. The lives of these drones must also differ considerably from the lives of worker specimens. If you mean the sexual act itself than I don't think it adds anything of much importance to the story or the lore so it doesn't have to be addressed.
