You think this one art will inspire whole JAW to make a full game?

Their main art focus seems different than that

Not sure JAW has a "main art focus" or if such a thing really exists and what a screenshot of the Poncho PS4 port proves.

I just thought this render was super cool and that people here would like it. Also the "yet" part in the topic title was a reference to Lorne clearly stating he would love to build Fangus in a not too distant future.

Talking of Twice ze Flavour... When do you think we'll start hearing more about it? Like the threads we used to have about 'Abe HD'?

More Fangus is always welcome. It might be the Oddworld game I’m looking forward to the most.

It went into pre-production like six months ago, I think? Depending on how long pre-production takes (I have no idea how long it usually takes), we should start to hear things about it around summer 2016, maybe?

I don't really remember much at all about Fangus aside from what the main character was going to look like, but this is still pretty awesome. Even if it hasn't been announced, it's cool to see that the idea still exists.

Although has Fangus been mentioned by Lorne/JAW at all recently? I've been under the impression that it hasn't been talked about for, like, years.

While I'm as excited as you guys I doubt we'll hear more about it for another few years at least. So far I've heard of several highly ambitious game projects in pre-production for the future, and I really doubt Fangus is on the top of that pipeline. Regardless, I'm always happy to see amazing new art :3

You should be always sceptical about works in early stages of production. In fact, only a small percent of those ever gets finished.

Which ones? I've only heard indications towards an Abe's Exoddus remake and Fangus.

I don't think "sceptical" is the word you were looking for. That would mean you doubt any game would ever be made. I think "cautious" would be more appropriate.

If I recall correctly there was some Hand of Odd, Sligstorm, etc, art released a couple years ago. My memory's a bit hazy though so apologies if I'm completely confused right now.

Fangus was planned to be set on Oddworld.

That's besides the point anyway. Why is it such an unusual thing for a fandom to be interested in a game produced by the same company?

Not quite the case. http://oddworldlibrary.net/toe/The_B...of_Fangus_Klot

:
Originally, Lorne had set out to create a game with a much more intense and politically shocking atmosphere, even giving it a title of a different ilk to past Oddworld games’, but keeping the setting on Oddworld, albeit a different part of it. However, having given the production team more control over the project, he saw that they shifted the design into something much more realistic and human, and eventually Lorne lost interest, letting the game’s development continue but saying it would not be set on Oddworld at all.
That’s not to say that the game could never be set on Oddworld if it was picked up again and finished, but vlam’s half right.

Jordan : because every time when something has nothing to do with Oddworld (like Oddmob or Citizen Siege), it fail. So OWI should stick with Oddworld related video games (it's enough work, they shouldn't have the leisure of missing around), it's the lesser evil.

But now there's an actual possibility of things being released, unlike that period after SW where we were waiting for ages for something.

Most of the time when something has everything to do with Oddworld (like Hand of Odd, SligStorm, Fearietales, Habitales, Squeek's Oddysee, Munch's Exoddus, arguably Munch's Oddysee too) it fails. So perhaps it's not the Oddworld vs Non-Oddworld factor that's significant here.

Yes, of course, but you know what I mean : it's not like OWI were rich and bored. So they should stay focus on Exoddus or Squeek instead.

If we go deeper : sorry but Fangus seems awful. A bad idea to begin with (I thought Lanning get rid of it). It's just about using the Stranger engine (ten years ago). Again, sorry, but the story sounds like a joke with cats and dogs. Frankly, do the fans really want to play this game (instead of Squeek) ?

Why would Squeek be a superior game than Fangus? Because it's the continuation of Abe's story? Munch's Oddysee was the continuation of Abe's story too...

What we know of the setting and plot of Fangus could make for a very relevant story. Using the cat and dog argument makes it sound like you made up your mind by reading the first line of the "story" section in Manco's link.
