I am.

I'm similarly bored of applying for jobs, getting to the interview, doing well in the interview but not getting a position. Then when asking for feedback finding out that they already had someone in mind but they were required to go through the recruitment process by law or something, it's happened to me twice.

I used to work in Gamestation so it's not an experience issue, (my shop closed down so we were all laid off, got to keep my shirt though.)

Bastards.

I had a breakdown recently because I've been trying for a job for over a year with no luck

I have to keep reminding myself how bad the job market is because otherwise I seriously feel like it's something I'm doing wrong, when I know damn well that's not the case.

hey Varrok why don't you start your own company?

a company that gives people jobs as a job.

then you'll SAVE THE WORLD

this. that shouldn't be allowed. the time i take to unwittingly waste at their fake interview i could spend looking for/going to more promising interviews.

fucking insanity. and they wonder why the whole jobless/job situation is fucked up beyond recognition. stop playing the system against itself, engage common sense and common courtesy.

since i lost my job i've put myself on a strict health-fanatic regime of my own, just as something to concentrate on. and i've been told time and again that exercise makes you literally feel good and staves off depression, so that's all good too. i see it as a test of will power, but it can be hard finding the motivation all the time to jobhunt and exercise and basically stay on the straight and narrow when i don't even have anything to get up for in the morning. amazing how something as simple as work can define someone's day structure, and equally turn things on it's head if absent.

I keep interviewing for a day or two after I've decided on someone. I give people the chance to wow me. Don't wow me? That's cool. I already decided on this other person.

I'm studying "Management and Production Engineering". I technically could start a company after getting papers, but that's not my #1 priority. What I learned that there are MANY, MANY places where you can get funding for your future company provided you have a promising idea and you're smart enough to make it a reality.

you know if i knew the employer had already made their mind up about a position i was applying for, meaning i wouldn't get it (because i wouldn't), i wouldn't even waste my time. i'd waste it shitting in an envelope and sending it to the employers house instead.

but that's just me.

because it's really that easy. because your situation is the perfect template/comparison for everyone else. because 'funding' doesn't inherently mean 'long-term once-your-income-exceeds-X-amount debt'. sure.

i guess in soviet Poland, jobs work you.

I was actually going to respond with something like this, but I get tired of being told to stop making excuses (indirectly or not) for why I can't do something so thanks

I'd just like to say that the higher the risk, the higher the reward. If you think you can't do something, you damn well teach yourself how to do it. I never make a habit of relying on other people in many respects of life. Another reason why I'd like to have my own business. I have a few ideas but I need to pick one, refine it and be absolutely certain about the costs, same goes for anyone. In fact, if you have a good idea and you can get a loan, now is the right time to start a bidniss, here in the UK interest rates are set at 0.5% base and the gov just set up a number of incentives to get people building their own companies.

That being said, I do totally sympathise with not being able to find a job, by the way. No idea how I'm gonna find something to tide me over when I go back home.

That my parents pay for because I don't have a stable paying job. Also, the laptop is over 7 years old now and literally falling apart. I don't even know how long it's going to last, and I know for a fact when it does break I'm not going to be able to afford a new one, so there goes my only source of income. (art commissions. not nearly enough to live off of.)

I'm not going to spill out all that's going on in my life, but believe me if I had the time to learn this shit I would have already fucking started

Also Varrok you know damn well there's this thing called multitasking.

Multitasking is actually doing one thing at the time, but constantly switching between things. It sounds like a more time-wasting way

preaching to the choir. the expression "jack of all trades, master of none" springs to mind.

and unless you're planning on running absolutely everything yourself, you'll have to rely on certain people. but hypocritically i agree, never rely on anyone for anything. and always have a backup for when you do. and a backup for your backup.

business paranoia, it will save your life. seriously. or just general paranoia.

:
Bootstrapper
1. A term of contempt applied to someone who believes the notion that every success they ever had in life was due to their own efforts and initiative.

a. as in "pulled himself up by his own boot straps".

b. Their success required absolutely no input from anyone else.

c. Nor are they willing to admit that luck or institutionalized privilege had anything to do with their success.

d. Furthermore, others would also be successful if they would just stop being so lazy and just to work hard and succeed, like the bootstrapper did.

e. Usually held by neo-liberals and followers of objectivism.
"He thinks he built that company with his own two hands, without any help and without help from Daddy and his trust fund. What a bootstrapper!"
hahaha

i'm not sure if i know what that means, is it good or bad?
It’s a name for the concept of building yourself up from nothing to become successful – to “pull one up by one’s own bootstraps”.

I usually hear it being used in reference to deluded right-wingers who think everyone can just magically help themselves become a billionaire, and that poor people just aren’t trying.
